Chapter 119: A Strange Encounter on a Fairy Island
After leaving the inn, Liu Yu and his companions continued their journey. That day, they arrived by boat at a mysterious fairy island.
As soon as Liu Yu stepped onto the island, a talking parrot blocked his path. The parrot loudly proclaimed, "Who goes there? How dare you trespass on this sacred island!" Liu Yu was startled and stammered, "We...we're just passing by and wanted to rest for a bit." The parrot tilted its head, sized them up, and said, "Alright then, but don't cause any trouble!"
They walked along the path and came across a huge fruit tree, laden with colorful fruit. Liu Yu excitedly ran over, wanting to pick one to taste. Just as he reached out, the tree suddenly shook, its branches flailing like arms, knocking Liu Yu off balance. As he dodged, he cried out, "Hey, this tree's come to life!"
Xu Xian and Xiao Qing were doubled over with laughter. Bai Suzhen quickly used her magic to quiet the fruit tree down. Liu Yu rubbed his head, which had been slapped, and muttered, "This fruit looks pretty, but it has such a temper."
Continuing on, they came to a clear pond. Liu Yu saw many beautiful goldfish in the pond and couldn't resist reaching out to catch them. Unexpectedly, the goldfish transformed into a group of little water sprites, spraying water at Liu Yu and soaking him to the bone. Liu Yu ran away in a disheveled state, shouting, "Help! Even fish can bully people!"
Just then, an old man with a white beard appeared. He smiled and said, "You outsiders don't know the rules here, so don't touch anything." Liu Yu wiped the water off his face and asked, "Grandpa, why are there so many strange things on this island?" The old man said mysteriously, "This fairy island is full of magic, so be careful."
They followed the old man to a small wooden hut, where he invited them inside to rest. The hut was filled with all sorts of strange objects. Liu Yu curiously picked up a bottle, opened it, and smelled it. A pungent odor assaulted his nostrils, causing him to sneeze and throw the bottle away. The bottle hit the ground, releasing a plume of black smoke that transformed into a small, menacing monster that lunged at them.
Liu Yu, terrified, hid under the table, shouting, "A monster!" Xu Xian and Xiao Qing quickly intervened, engaging the little monster in a battle. Bai Suzhen then used her magic to subdue the little monster. The old man shook his head helplessly, "I told you not to move around, now you've caused trouble."
After leaving the cabin, Liu Yu saw a mountain peak in the distance, with what appeared to be a palace on its summit. Curious, he said, "Let's go take a look." The group climbed the mountain path, and the higher they went, the thicker the fog became.
Suddenly, Liu Yu slipped and tumbled down the hillside. Xu Xian and the others rushed after him, only to find that Liu Yu had fallen into a huge trap. The trap was filled with a sticky liquid, and Liu Yu struggled to climb out, but he only sank deeper. He cried out, "Help me! I'm going to be swallowed by this thing!"
Bai Suzhen used her magic to pull Liu Yu out of the trap. Liu Yu was covered in slime and smelled terrible; he himself was disgusted with himself: "I'm so unlucky."
After finally reaching the palace at the mountaintop, they found the gates tightly shut. Liu Yu knocked, and the door slowly opened, revealing a magnificently dressed fairy. The fairy frowned and asked, "What are you mortals doing here?" Liu Yu smiled apologetically and said, "Fairy sister, we've gotten lost and would like to stay here for the night." The fairy hesitated for a moment, but still let them into the palace.
The palace was resplendent with gold and jade. Liu Yudong looked around and touched everything, accidentally knocking over a vase. The vase shattered on the floor, the sound echoing in the empty palace. The fairy said angrily, "You're all such a nuisance!" Liu Yudong quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'll be careful."
That night, they rested in the palace. Liu Yu lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. Suddenly, he heard a strange sound, like someone crying. Startled, he sat up and woke Xu Xian and the others. They followed the sound and arrived at the door of a room.
Liu Yu pushed open the door and saw a beautiful woman sitting on the edge of the bed, weeping. He walked over and asked, "Young lady, why are you crying?" The woman looked up and said, "I've been locked up here for a long time. Can you take me away?" Liu Yu thought to himself, "Could this be another trap?"
Just as they hesitated, the woman suddenly transformed into a terrifying monster and pounced on them. Liu Yu and the others were so frightened that they turned and ran, scattering throughout the palace.
Finally, Bai Suzhen once again used her powerful magic to subdue the demon. They dared not linger in the palace and hastily left the fairy island.
Back on the ship, Liu Yu gazed at the receding fairy island and said with lingering fear, "That fairy island was really too dangerous. I won't dare to wander around recklessly in the future." Everyone nodded and smiled.
