Chapter 191 Watershed
Chapter 191 Watershed
On a crisp autumn morning, a slight chill hung in the air. Lin Chuyue awoke to the first rays of sunlight streaming through the curtains, bathing the room in a warm, golden glow. However, this did little to soothe the tension and unease within her.
She got up, walked to the window, and placed her hands on the window frame, gazing at the distant skyscrapers and bustling streets. She knew clearly in her heart that the calm before her was merely the calm before the storm. Within the company, Zhao Zhenghai's influence remained deeply hidden; his connections and resources were far greater than she had imagined, and the pressure she faced had never been so immense.
Lin Chuyue lightly pressed her fingers on the documents on the table, closed her eyes, and let her thoughts race. These past few days, she, Li Zhanchuan, and Li Gang had been reviewing all the company's documents. Zhao Zhenghai's actions were becoming increasingly frequent, and the flow of funds and the power behind him were gradually being exposed. Although Shen Fang had already left for distant lands, every detail she left behind and the mess she created still weighed heavily on her mind.
Just then, her phone screen lit up; it was a message from Li Zhanchuan. Lin Chuyue opened it and saw that the message was brief and concise:
"Zhao Zhenghai's actions at the board meeting will begin tomorrow morning. I've already arranged the other directors' attitudes; you're ready to face the challenge."
Lin Chuyue quickly replied with a single word: "Okay".
She had made up her mind; she couldn't delay any longer in this situation. She understood that Zhao Zhenghai had laid many traps at the board meeting, and tomorrow's meeting could be the watershed moment for the entire situation. Whether she maintained the current situation or completely exposed Zhao Zhenghai's true colors, the decisive moment had arrived.
Recalling the previous meetings, Lin Chuyue knew that although she had gained some support within the board of directors, Zhao Zhenghai's methods were still not to be underestimated. Behind each of the high-ranking officials caught in the middle were dark deals involving the exchange of interests, and all she could rely on, besides the evidence she possessed and her alliance with Li Zhanchuan, were her conscience and beliefs that were not yet completely corrupted.
She took a deep breath, picked up her phone from the table, and dialed Li Gang's number: "Prepare all the materials. At tomorrow's board meeting, we must expose Zhao Zhenghai completely in one fell swoop."
On the other end of the phone, Li Gang's voice came through quickly: "Understood, President Lin. All the materials have been compiled, and I will hand them over to you before the meeting starts tomorrow."
After hanging up the phone, Lin Chuyue walked to the wardrobe and changed into a simple yet well-fitting suit. The tailored cut showcased her capable demeanor. She stood in front of the mirror for a moment, carefully examining herself. Her calm gaze reflected a resolute determination and unwavering resolve for the future. She understood that this decisive battle concerned her and the company's future, and she would never allow anyone to easily shake her foundation.
The next morning, sunlight streamed into the conference room. Lin Chuyue walked into the spacious boardroom under the watchful eyes of the board members. Each director was already seated, their faces either serious or relaxed, the atmosphere subtly tense. She calmly walked to her seat and sat down, scanning the members around the conference table before her gaze finally settled on the directors standing next to Zhao Zhenghai. These were his carefully planted pawns behind the scenes; in today's battle, they would undoubtedly be her greatest enemies.
Li Zhanchuan had arrived earlier and sat beside her. Their eyes met, and they exchanged a knowing glance. Li Zhanchuan nodded slightly, a rare smile playing on his lips, offering her a sense of comfort.
“Today, we can resolve all of this.” His voice was low, and only Lin Chuyue could hear it.
Lin Chuyue nodded gently, the tension in her heart instantly dissipating much of its tension thanks to the tacit understanding and support. She knew that every step from here on out would be a challenge, a test of her wisdom and determination.
The meeting began, and Zhao Zhenghai stood up, smiling as he began to speak. His tone carried an unquestionable authority, as if he were already full of confidence in his situation.
"Distinguished directors, we need to make some crucial decisions today. The company has been on a good track, and I believe that with everyone's joint efforts, the future will be even brighter." His voice carried a businessman's shrewdness and charm, with a subtle sense of pressure in his tone.
However, Lin Chuyue was not affected by his words. She was ready to face Zhao Zhenghai's attack.
“Mr. Zhao, your plan is indeed very meticulous.” Lin Chuyue’s voice was soft yet powerful, interrupting Zhao Zhenghai’s speech. She stood up with a smile, looking calmly at Zhao Zhenghai: “But you seem to have forgotten an important issue—those who cooperate with you may not necessarily be able to share your fate.”
She gently patted the documents in her hand and slowly said, "I have some documents that record your transactions with certain external forces. I believe that, as a member of the board of directors, I have the right to show you this information."
Zhao Zhenghai's expression changed slightly; he hadn't expected Lin Chuyue to suddenly raise such a question.
“Chuyue, although you now control most of the board members, it is still unknown whether these documents are authentic,” Zhao Zhenghai retorted coldly, with a hint of threat in his tone: “If you release these materials without authorization, you will probably suffer more losses than gains.”
Lin Chuyue's eyes narrowed, and she said without flinching, "Everything I've said has been verified. I believe the truth will always surface at the most crucial moment, and I'm ready to expose it."
As soon as she finished speaking, the meeting room fell silent. All eyes were on Lin Chuyue, and every word she uttered seemed to pierce the air like a blade.
