Chapter 268: Setting up a Children's Study Corner
Chapter 268: Setting up a Children's Study Corner
Although life on the plains was fulfilling, Ye Wan never forgot to educate her children. After all, in this new home, knowledge and wisdom were equally crucial, not just survival skills. She knew that only by providing her children with opportunities to learn could they possess greater power to change their fate in this wilderness. Therefore, she decided to set up a "little learning corner" in the camp, where the children could cultivate their curiosity and thinking skills while playing.
Design Learning Corner
Unlike the orderly, orderly atmosphere of a city classroom, the "study corner" is more like a small, warm, and free-spirited space. Ye Wan built a simple wooden shelf in a corner of the camp, upon which she placed a few books collected from past civilizations. Next to it was a small table and a few chairs, upon which were laid stationery, drawing paper, and some simple study materials. While these items may appear unassuming, for the children, this is a source of knowledge filled with endless possibilities.
Ye Wan also hung a large blackboard in the corner for writing and simple teaching demonstrations. Once she had prepared these facilities, she would personally lead the children to sit in the study corner and begin their day's learning activities.
"This is our little classroom," Ye Wan said with a smile to the children sitting around the table. "Here, we can learn a lot of useful things, like words, numbers, pictures, and even some new things you've never heard of."
Her eyes were filled with encouragement, and the children all looked at her with curiosity and anticipation. Xiaotong, in particular, was no longer the timid child she once was in an unfamiliar environment. Instead, she became a young scholar willing to ask questions to Ye Wan. Whenever Ye Wan mentioned some new knowledge point, Xiaotong would always raise her hand and eagerly ask, "Mom, why is the sky blue?" or "Why don't those stars fall down?"
Although these questions are simple, they embody the children's spirit of exploration of the world. Ye Wan patiently answers them every time. Her answers not only impart knowledge but also stimulate the children's curiosity.
The study corner has become a "paradise"
Over time, the learning corner gradually became the children's favorite place. Every time the sun sets and the rest of the camp is done, the children would flock to the learning corner, gathering around Ye Wan with their questions and curiosity, waiting for her explanations.
One day, Ye Wan was teaching the children simple arithmetic. On the blackboard was written "2+2=?" She pointed to the number and asked, "Who can tell me what 2 plus 2 equals?" Xiaotong was the first to raise her hand and whispered, "4!"
"Yes! Xiaotong is awesome!" Ye Wan nodded. "You know, numbers are like little friends in our lives. Only by understanding them can we accomplish more."
The other children also raised their hands, eager to answer the next question. Watching this scene, Ye Wan felt a surge of satisfaction. She realized that in this simple classroom, she had given the children not only knowledge, but also a way of thinking and a curiosity about the world. She also gradually realized that this "learning corner" was far more than just a place to impart knowledge; it was more like a starting point for children's dreams, a place where their worlds were constantly opened up and their horizons broadened.
Changes brought about by knowledge
On one occasion, Ye Wan led the children in learning how to identify the plants around them using simple botanical illustrations. She took out a well-worn botanical atlas, flipped to a page, pointed to a picture of an herb, and patiently explained, "This plant is called 'honeysuckle.' It has many medicinal properties and can help cure colds."
Xiaotong listened with great interest, her eyes sparkling. Suddenly, she asked, "Mom, when I grow up, will I be able to know as much as you do?"
Ye Wan smiled and nodded. "Of course, each of you has unlimited possibilities, and learning is the key to these possibilities." She touched Xiaotong's head and said gently, "As long as you are willing to learn, there will be many unexpected surprises waiting for you in the future."
The children nodded earnestly, as if filled with confidence in Ye Wan's words. That day, they were immersed in learning. They took turns flipping through the botanical atlas, discussing the uses and growing environments of the plants. A few even began collecting herbs from the nearby meadow, recreating the skills they had learned in the "nature classroom." In their hearts, this small learning corner had long become more than just a place to learn; it became a bridge connecting the past and the future, reality and dreams.
Delivering love and responsibility
As the children continue to grow in the learning corner, Ye Wan gradually realizes that this small learning corner not only imparts knowledge, but also a sense of responsibility. She is not only teaching the children how to read and write, but also teaching them how to think, how to discover the wonders of the world, and how to use knowledge to change their own destiny.
Every night, as Ye Wan sits around the fire with the children and talks about the day's learning, she is always filled with emotion. She knows that everything she does will leave a deep impression on these children. She is no longer just a leader or manager; she is their "guide," a window through which they can see the outside world through knowledge.
The study corner has become a "paradise" in the children's minds. Here, they are not only nourished by knowledge, but also by Ye Wan's meticulous love and care. In this small world full of warmth and hope, the children not only learn how to survive, but also how to pursue their dreams and how to face the challenges of the future.
Ye Wan knows that these simple learning moments will be the most precious treasure in the children's lives. And she will continue on this plain, using knowledge and love to cultivate more strong hearts that can face the future.
