Grassroots Travel: The Star Lord of Another World

Chapter 27 The Pain of Truth

Chapter 27 The Pain of Truth

"Impossible... You are lying to me!" Gao Xingchen stood up suddenly and almost shouted this sentence. His eyes were red, like a trapped beast forced into a desperate situation, and his whole body exuded a dangerous aura.

As the new owner of this body, Gao Xingchen naturally had to pretend to be incredulous. He pretended that Lin Feng's words were like a sharp blade that pierced his heart fiercely. As if all his persistence and hard work had been built on a lie?

Lin Feng ignored Gao Xingchen's anger, just smiled faintly, and his figure gradually disappeared into the night, like a ghost.

"Enjoy your last moments, Gao Xingchen."

The room returned to silence, leaving only Gao Xingchen's heavy breathing. He slumped in the chair, holding his head in his hands, his mind in a mess.

Lin Feng's words were like a huge rock dropped into a calm lake, stirring up waves. He couldn't believe that the original owner of this body was actually the descendant of the founder of Qingyun Sect. He had another big mystery to solve out of nowhere.

Looking back at the memories of this body, he remembered the mockery and ridicule from his fellow disciples when he was young; he remembered the stern eyes and cold words from his master who taught him cultivation when he was young; he remembered the countless nights when he sweated profusely on the training ground alone, just to prove himself and gain recognition...

Who is that master? He adopted me, but why can’t I find him now?

As Gao Xingchen recalled his memories, his heart seemed to have fallen into a bottomless abyss, and endless darkness and despair swallowed him. He gritted his teeth tightly, trying to restrain the uncontrollable pain in his heart, but he could not stop the tears from falling from the corners of his eyes.

Just then, the door was gently pushed open and a beautiful figure walked in.

"Xingchen, what's wrong with you?" Nan Li looked at Gao Xingchen's distraught look, her heart tightened, and she asked with concern.

Gao Xingchen raised his head and looked at the woman in front of him who had always cared for him silently. A warmth welled up in his heart, but he quickly lowered his head again, not wanting her to see his vulnerable side.

"It's nothing, I just encountered some bottlenecks in my cultivation." Gao Xingchen forced a smile, trying to hide the pain in his heart.

Nan Li naturally didn't believe his words. She walked to Gao Xingchen, gently held his hand, and said softly: "Xingchen, I know you are upset. If you have anything, you can tell me. I will always be with you."

Gao Xingchen felt the warmth in his palms, and his heart was filled with mixed emotions. He wanted to tell Nan Li what Lin Feng said, but he was afraid to hear her disappointed tone. He didn't know how to face all this, and could only bury all the pain and despair deep in his heart.

Nan Li's soft words of comfort brushed Gao Xingchen's ears like a feather, but they could not dispel the haze that enveloped his heart. He looked at the ground with empty eyes, and the beliefs that once supported him to move forward were now turned into dust.

"Bottleneck? Xingchen, you and I both know that this is not true." Nanli shook her head gently, her eyes full of worry, "Tell me, what happened? You have been worried since you came back from the library."

Gao Xingchen took a deep breath, but could not make any sound. He pretended that Lin Feng's words were like a nightmare that entangled him and suffocated him.

"Xingchen, look at me." Nan Li held Gao Xingchen's cheek and forced him to look at her. "No matter what happens, I will be by your side. You are not alone."

Gao Xingchen looked into Nan Li's clear eyes, which were full of determination and trust, like a faint candlelight lit for him in the endless darkness. He opened his mouth and wanted to say something, but found that his throat was dry and no sound came out.

Just then, a breeze blew by, and a figure appeared out of nowhere in the room.

“Young man, why are you so depressed?”

The mysterious old man appeared in the corner of the room at some point. He was leaning on a cane with a meaningful smile on his face.

Gao Xingchen and Nan Li both stood up in surprise. They had no idea how the old man appeared.

"Senior..." Gao Xingchen was about to ask, but the old man raised his hand to stop him.

"I know your heart is full of doubts and pain." The old man walked up to Gao Xingchen and looked at him deeply. "Lin Feng's words are not completely false."

Gao Xingchen's heart sank suddenly. Could it be that everything Lin Feng said was true?

"But," the old man changed the subject, "he concealed a more important truth. He wanted to use your despair to make you give up and abandon yourself, so that he could completely control everything."

"Senior, what do you mean by this?" Gao Xingchen asked in confusion.

"My child, the truth is far more complicated than you think." The old man said meaningfully, "Don't be blinded by the fog before your eyes. You must trust your own judgment, and believe that the path you insist on is the right one."

The old man's voice echoed in Gao Xingchen's ears like a huge bell, injecting him with a powerful strength.

“Remember, child, you are the chosen one, and you carry an important mission.” After the old man finished speaking, his figure gradually faded and finally disappeared into the air, as if he had never appeared.

Gao Xingchen looked at the direction where the old man disappeared, his eyes gradually became firm. He knew that he still had a long way to go and many things to do. He couldn't just fall down like this, he had to find out the truth, he had to prove himself!

The words of the mysterious old man were like a flash of lightning in the darkness, illuminating Gao Xingchen's confused path. He clenched his fists tightly, and the fire of hope rekindled in his eyes. Yes, he couldn't just give up like this, he had to find out the truth, for himself and for those innocent people who sacrificed their lives.

Nan Li had been standing silently beside Gao Xingchen, feeling his emotional ups and downs. Seeing the change in his eyes, Nan Li felt relieved. She held Gao Xingchen's hand and said softly, "I believe you."

These three short words contained a thousand words, giving Gao Xingchen infinite strength. He took a deep breath, suppressed his surging emotions, turned to look at Nan Li, and said firmly: "I will find out everything and clear my name!"

But Gao Xingchen’s real thoughts were: Damn, this is such a headache!

However, the road to investigation is much more difficult than expected. Lin Feng's control over the sect far exceeds Gao Xingchen's expectations, and the resistance forces are defeated under Lin Feng's strong suppression.

A blood-stained letter was delivered to Gao Xingchen. It was written by Xuanfeng in blood. The handwriting was messy, but full of tragedy and despair. The letter told about the ambush of the resistance team, heavy casualties, and Xuanfeng was seriously injured and unable to recover.

"No!" Gao Xingchen closed his eyes in pain. Xuanfeng was in danger. He hated his own powerlessness and hated himself for not discovering Lin Feng's conspiracy earlier.

"This is not your fault." Nan Li gently hugged Gao Xingchen and whispered to comfort him, "You have tried your best."

Gao Xingchen shook his head, his eyes filled with self-blame and grief. He clenched the letter tightly in his hand, his knuckles turning white from excessive force. He wanted to avenge Xuanfeng and make Lin Feng pay for what he had done!

Gao Xingchen suppressed his grief and continued to investigate Lin Feng's conspiracy. Finally, late one night, he sneaked into Lin Feng's study and found a hidden compartment. In the compartment was a diary, which recorded all of Lin Feng's plans and secrets over the years.

Gao Xingchen flipped through the diary page by page, and the more he read, the more frightened he became. It turned out that Lin Feng had already betrayed the sect and joined the evil forces. Everything he did was to gain more power. The diary also mentioned a mysterious plan. Once this plan succeeded, the entire Nine Star Realm would fall into chaos.

Gao Xingchen realized the seriousness of the matter and that he had to make the news public as soon as possible. However, just as he was about to leave, the door of the study was suddenly pushed open.

"It seems that you have discovered my secret." Lin Feng stood at the door with a cold smile on his face, "Unfortunately, you no longer have the chance to tell it."

As soon as he finished speaking, several assassins in black entered from the door and surrounded Gao Xingchen. Gao Xingchen's heart sank, and he knew that he was in an unprecedented desperate situation.

He hid the diary in his arms, drew his sword, and prepared for the final fight. He knew that this time his opponent was different from the past, and if he was not careful, he would be doomed...
