Chapter 2754 - 2755: If You Can’t Let Go, Then Don’t
Chapter 2754 - 2755: If You Can’t Let Go, Then Don’t
"Ah!" Sibao suddenly cried out, "I clearly didn’t pick a gender, how did I turn into a woman? How could this happen!"
No one could explain this clearly, so Bai Ruozhu spoke up: "What’s so bad about being a woman? Look at me, I’m a woman too—I can wear skirts and flowers in my hair. I’m much prettier than those men."
Sibao tilted her head and thought about it. "True, seeing how ugly they are, I don’t want to become a man anymore."
Gong Feng was holding her and hadn’t said a word, as if he couldn’t hear what she was saying.
The group quickly entered the City and returned to the Posthouse.
"Achun, are you all right?" Chushuang came up, asking Nervously. Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun really did look too bedraggled.
"We’re fine, those two have been taken care of." Jiang Yichun smiled at his mother.
Everyone finally let out a breath of relief and clamored for them to tell the story. Bai Ruozhu said, "I still have to treat Fangzi. You all listen to Sibao."
Only then did everyone notice Sibao. Gong Feng, for some reason, still hadn’t put her down; he just held her and stared off in a daze.
"Sibao, how did you change like this!" Fo Lanying cried out.
Sibao chuckled. "I’ve grown up, and I’m stronger now."
Yizi went over and patted her head, then poked her cheek. "You really have grown up—you’re an adult now."
Gong Feng snapped back to himself and abruptly put her down. Sibao yelped in pain and toppled to the side, but Yizi and Fo Lanying reacted quickly and caught her.
"I’m going back to the Restaurant first." Gong Feng threw down these words and left.
Bai Ruozhu watched his back and started to mull it over. Even if he was angry at Sibao, after all this time he should’ve cooled off. Something was off about Gong Feng.
Sibao pouted and said aggrievedly, "Sister Ruozhu, you saw that, right? And you still told me to stay in Fusang with him. He’s got such a bad temper, I don’t want to be with him. I want to go to the Zhongyuan with you."
"Then we’ll go to the Zhongyuan. I’ll take you back to our Jiuli Clan. I guarantee no one will dare bully you." Fo Lanying said, patting her chest.
"All right, thank you, Sister Lan Ying." Sibao grinned.
Gong Feng, who hadn’t gone far, paused mid-step, then strode away.
Sibao vividly recounted what had happened earlier, making everyone break into a cold sweat as they listened. Fortunately Bai Ruozhu and the others had returned safely, and the matter could be considered wrapped up.
Bai Ruozhu sent someone to deliver a message to Fangzi’s home. In the middle of the night, Fangzi’s parents still rushed over to take a look. When they learned Fangzi would need to rest at the Posthouse for a few days, they thanked Bai Ruozhu profusely before leaving.
"Achun, what do you think is going on with Gong Feng?" Back in the Room, Bai Ruozhu pulled Jiang Yichun over to analyze it with her.
"I feel like he remembered something." Jiang Yichun sighed lightly. "He’s probably conflicted. He does care about Sibao, otherwise he wouldn’t have been in so much pain when he thought she was dead. But he also remembered something—probably that he once loved a woman."
Bai Ruozhu nodded. "It’s really possible to recall some things when your emotions are stirred up."
"I’m a man; I understand how Gong Feng feels. If he’s remembered Yanzhi, there’s no way he’ll accept anyone else. He’s a stubbornly devoted sort." Jiang Yichun said.
Bai Ruozhu didn’t speak for a long time. She felt bad for Sibao, and she also felt it was a pity for Gong Feng. She even pitied the dead Yanzhi very much.
"Sibao’s feelings are only just budding; she’s not deeply in love yet. If Gong Feng can’t accept her, then it’s better to let her come back to the Zhongyuan with us, so that she doesn’t fall too deep later and really become unable to let go." Bai Ruozhu said.
"It makes sense to think that way. Handle it as you see fit." Jiang Yichun said as he slipped an arm around her shoulders. "You really scared me to death today."
Bai Ruozhu looked completely innocent. "I didn’t scare you on purpose. At first I really was hit by the Poisonous Insect and had no choice; it really hurt too. Luckily Quanxin woke up in time and absorbed all the poisonous insect poison."
"Quanxin is quite something, specifically eating Poisonous Insects and that sort of thing. It won’t have any problems, right?" Jiang Yichun was a bit worried. After all, Quanxin had suddenly appeared; they didn’t know much about it.
"The Furball said Quanxin was born of the essence of heaven and earth; it’s something utterly clear and pure. When it devours Poisonous Insects, it transforms those yin-evil things into upright Qi and turns them into its own strength. That’s probably its main purpose for existing." Bai Ruozhu said.
Jiang Yichun was reassured. Marvelous things between heaven and earth were everywhere; it just depended on whether you could encounter them.
Over the next two days, Sibao’s condition improved. She could walk freely now, but she still couldn’t use her Demon Power, or it might cause tremendous damage to her newly formed body.
She happily played around the Posthouse for two days, then suddenly started to worry.
The main signs were that she had little appetite and would sit off to the side in a daze, frowning in distress.
Bai Ruozhu guessed the reason but didn’t know how to persuade her, so after thinking it over she simply went to Tangfen Restaurant.
"Master, please wait a moment, I’ll go get the latest account book." When Gong Feng saw Bai Ruozhu, his gaze darkened slightly, and he looked like he wanted to avoid her.
"I didn’t come to check the books. Sit down, let’s talk." Bai Ruozhu said.
Gong Feng stood there thinking for a while before slowly shuffling over to the table and pulling out a chair to sit down.
"Gong Feng, I don’t like talking in circles. Let me just ask you: did you remember something?" Bai Ruozhu asked.
Gong Feng froze, his eyes widening a bit. "So there really is something I don’t know. Why are you all hiding it from me?"
Bai Ruozhu sighed. "We were the ones who rescued you. We never planned to use you for anything, and we had no reason to hide anything from you—it’s just that we were entrusted with something, that’s all."
"It’s her? The woman who died for my sake?" Gong Feng asked anxiously.
It seemed he had already remembered quite a bit. Sibao’s "death" must have given him too great a shock and triggered the return of his memories.
Bai Ruozhu gave a slight nod. "She can’t come back. Her greatest wish was for you to live happily, so you really shouldn’t stay fixated on this."
"How could I possibly let it go?" Gong Feng roared in anger. "We were so in love back then. She died for me—how am I supposed to let that go?"
He was too agitated, panting heavily, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles cracked audibly.
Bai Ruozhu sighed. "If you can’t let it go, then don’t. I’m planning to take Sibao away."
Gong Feng paused and jerked his head up to look at her.
"You can’t let go and you can’t accept Sibao. Rather than letting the two of you suffer in the future, it’s better I take her away early so she can have a new life." Bai Ruozhu said.
Gong Feng hung his head and said nothing for a long time. In the end he gave a muffled "mm."
Bai Ruozhu stood up. She already understood very clearly that Gong Feng couldn’t let go and had nothing to offer Sibao.
Fortunately Sibao hadn’t fallen too deep yet; things hadn’t reached the point of no return.
"Master, will you still come back to Fusang?" Seeing that she was about to leave, Gong Feng couldn’t help but ask.
"The two Countries will trade with each other. Maybe I’ll come again in the future, but maybe not. It might already be many years from now." Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.
