Chapter 1000 Battle of the Sand Dunes against Mirak
Chapter 1000 Battle of the Sand Dunes against Mirak
"Be careful, don't act rashly. There seems to be an ancient power surging here."
"I noticed that too, and this too..."
Both Wind Child Lan and Clotto were drawn to the relief sculpture before them:
"This huge relief must be an ancient creature."
"There's a recess on the altar in front; it looks like the magic box needs to be placed on it."
“It seems so. Child of the Wind, please put down the magic box. I will keep an eye on your surroundings for you.”
"Clotto said seriously."
Under Clotho's protection, Wind Child Lan slowly stepped forward and placed the magic box into the groove below the relief.
The moment the magic box was placed in, the relief that had absorbed the magic box's energy suddenly came to life.
Accompanied by an ancient aura and billowing flames, a creature with a body as hard as a rock, dragging a thick tail behind it, and three pairs of legs bent inward, holding a fireball.
A giant insect with sharp fangs and blood-red gems on its head, and thick elytra slightly spread out to reveal three pairs of fiery wings, emerged from the relief.
(It looks somewhat like Giratina in its Origin form, but with a few pairs of fiery wings.)
This insect is named Mirak, and its element is Ancient Fire. It is another guardian of the temple.
Miraak and the Narrow Dune are both guardians of the temple, but their purposes are diametrically opposed. One aims to prevent anyone from approaching the temple, while the other, on the contrary, aims to help its holder unlock the power of Pandora's Box.
The narrowness of the sand dunes is the former, while Mirak is the latter.
However, despite this, Mirak, who had just awakened, was in a state of mental confusion and unable to communicate. Although he did not attack the two, he was not helpful at all.
Fortunately, Wind Child Storm did not come alone. Clotho not only knew Mirak, but also knew how to restore its sanity.
“It is an ancient temple guardian, and we cannot communicate with it now, but don’t worry, it’s time for me, the goddess, to show my power.”
"We will use divine power to establish a spiritual connection with it, in order to understand the secrets of this temple and the magic box, the Immortal Holy Light!"
A halo of light condensed from Clotho's chest, transforming into beams of light that enveloped the frenzied Miraak.
Mirak stood calmly in place, as if bathed in a gentle breeze, allowing Clotho to extract its memories.
A wondrous beam of light reached his mind, and he felt a sense of comfort and warmth, while at the same time, some subtle memories of the past began to surface in his mind.
But this process was quickly interrupted. A colossal beast of similar size suddenly burst forth from the ground.
It was a narrow sand dune, and without saying a word, the other party charged straight at Mirak and wrestled with it.
"The narrowness of the sand dunes," Mirak suddenly recalled the creature before him.
Long ago, it had been holding itself back. In the midst of the struggle, Miraak also remembered his mission: to use his power to open Pandora's Box and reshape the world's order!
"Flame-Winged Beast!"
Mirak's eyes were ignited with fighting spirit, and his fiery wings spread to their maximum arc, like a giant fiery sword slicing across the world, as he lunged towards the narrow sand dune.
"Sunset sandstorm!"
The narrow dune moved even faster, its ferocious snake head twisting at an eerie angle. The power of the earth and shadow converged, and its entire head transformed into a rapidly spinning saw blade, heading straight for Mirak, who was covered in fiery wings.
With a deafening roar, the two colossal beasts collided in mid-air, then separated after a brief struggle, each falling back into the air and onto the ground.
Flames and dust mingled, and in an instant, the temple was filled with a sandstorm mixed with heat.
The battle between the two giant beasts did not cease in the slightest. They returned to their respective areas of expertise, quietly plotting their next attack.
"Clouds and smoke obscure the sun!"
The power of the earth and shadow converged, stirring up gusts of dusty winds, which eventually coalesced into a mysterious array. The narrow tail of the sand dune curled up, and then it leaped forward, carrying the array into motion.
"Azure Flame Spirit Burning Array!"
Mirak let out an ancient growl, and his elytra and fiery wings spread out to their maximum extent.
As the fireballs held tightly by his three pairs of legs rotated, a sudden burst of intense flames engulfed his entire body, forming a large "burning" shape.
In the blink of an eye, the two giant beasts collided in mid-air once again, the same formula bringing a different outcome.
The narrow dunes have been battle-hardened over the years, having encountered numerous invaders attempting to break into the Temple of Rost.
Mirak, having just awakened after years of slumber, was not on the same level as the other, and naturally, the former gained the upper hand when their strengths were equal.
Mirak was the first to give way; his hard elytra were snapped off by the howling wind, greatly reducing his flight ability, and he was dragged to the ground by the gaping maw of the sand dune.
The battle between the two giant beasts seemed to have lasted a long time, but in reality it was only a moment, and was quickly noticed by Wind Child Lan and Clotho.
"It's that again!"
"It seems it wants to stop us; we'll have no choice but to destroy it!"
"Azure Blade Strike!"
The Holy Sword in the hands of Wind Child Lan radiated green light, and a fierce gale gathered at the sword's edge, unleashing a powerful and indestructible sword aura of wind.
"Heavenly Thunder God's Favor!"
Golden holy light shone brightly, and howling lightning gathered. Kloto raised his hands, and the five rhomboid armors floating around him were instantly covered by lightning, turning into lightning swords that fell like a rain of swords.
The Sand Dune Narrow may seem strong, but in reality, its combat power is only slightly stronger than that of the Order Angel.
Dealing with one Mirak was manageable, but even the Wind Child, Lan, couldn't be defeated, let alone with the addition of the God of Fate, Clotho.
After a fierce battle, the Sand Dune was finally destroyed, but Miraak himself was exhausted, and the flame runes on his elytra flickered.
"Oh no, it seems to be dying, we need to think of something..."
"Wind Child Lan called out anxiously."
"Don't panic, leave it to me!"
Clotho quickly tried the same trick again, releasing light from his chest to envelop Mirak, but this time it had no effect.
The wondrous beam of light reappeared.
Mirak became drowsy, and somehow, he was forced into a deep sleep, returning to the temple's seal.
Whether it was his own power that was too weak, or the strange beam of light, Mirak gradually stopped thinking and continued to stand as a stone statue, sensing the changing times...
"Its name is Mirak, the guardian of the temple. It cannot exist in reality for long. The battle just now depleted its power, and it is irreversible to turn back into a stone statue."
Clotho understood the whole story and realized his efforts were futile.
"But it's alright, I've already learned the information you wanted from its memories."
