Chapter 12 A Narrow Escape
Chapter 12 A Narrow Escape
"Evacuate people immediately, the last bomb is in the police station."
As he ran downstairs, Li Wei told Gordon what he had discovered.
"It's Fox! The Joker's using the same old tricks!"
Li Wei never expected that the clown would be so brutal, attacking the police station with the same methods for two consecutive days.
"Everyone, evacuate the police station!"
Gordon realized what was happening and shouted loudly as he went downstairs, signaling everyone to retreat.
After receiving his warning, all the officers began to evacuate and rushed towards the stairwell.
Although we don't know what happened, the fact that Chief Gordon is so nervous means that something terrible is about to happen.
In a corner of Gotham, the Joker stared at the brightly lit Gotham City Police Department on the security camera, a maniacal smile spreading across his face.
"Prophet, it seems you've disappointed me somewhat..."
But before he could finish speaking, he saw police officers rushing out of the door.
Upon seeing this, the clown was momentarily stunned, then began to get excited.
"Wow! Our prophet is really something, he actually discovered my plan..."
You have indeed piqued my interest, and you certainly deserve to be my opponent... if you don't die this time.
After saying this, the clown looked at the clock hanging on the wall.
It was less than 9 o'clock, and Li Wei did not rush out of the building. In his heart, the clown had already sentenced this prophet to death.
At that moment in the Gotham City Police Department, Li Wei looked at Jesse, who was locked in a detention cell with the fat white man, and shouted something to Gordon.
"Gordon, you go first, I'll go check it out!"
After saying that, ignoring Gordon's astonished look, he ran straight towards Jess, grabbing the detention cell key from the table as he did so.
"Hey kid, come here right now!"
He called out to Chao, who was butchering a pig without a knife, and Li Wei quickly used the key to open the iron door of the detention cell.
According to his calculations, he would have 30 seconds to evacuate after opening the cell door.
Judging from the power of yesterday's explosion, there was enough time.
The man who slaughtered the pig without a knife stared blankly at Li Wei, who was holding a key and opening the door.
The police station had just begun to evacuate when the officer guarding him ignored his cries and ran out.
Although he didn't know what had happened, a sense of foreboding welled up inside him.
Just as he was lamenting that his thirty-odd reputation points might be wasted, he saw Li Wei rushing towards him.
He never expected that the legendary prophet would actually come to save him.
He's a normal person; it would be a lie to say he wasn't moved.
"Sir...you don't have to do this..."
Although we don't know what will happen, judging from the way the police officers are retreating in such a hurry, something terrible must be about to happen.
He's a player; if he dies in a dungeon, he can simply switch identities and continue playing.
As for Li Wei, whom he had already labeled an NPC, he believed that if he died, he would truly vanish into nothingness.
Although the NPC was most likely just a program, its willingness to risk its life to save him still deeply moved him.
"Sir, please don't worry about me, I won't..."
"Shut up!"
Jess had barely uttered a sentence when Li Wei abruptly interrupted him.
In his haste, he couldn't find the key to the detention cell in time and could only try one key at a time.
At such a critical moment, he had no time to waste words with this guy.
After about ten seconds, Li Wei finally inserted the key into the locker room, and the door to the detention cell opened.
"Come out quickly, follow me!"
Li Wei opened the gate, gesturing for the pig butcher to follow him without a knife.
Meanwhile, the clown looked closely at the monitor and found that Li Wei was not among the evacuated crowd, which made him somewhat disappointed.
I glanced at the clock on the wall; the second hand had just reached the '12' mark.
"Mr. Prophet, you are truly disappointing."
The clown's tone was full of dissatisfaction, as if Levi's mistake had made him very unhappy.
I pressed the call button on my phone, and the call was made quickly.
On the second floor of the police station, a drunk man in a detention cell suddenly shuddered; a light could be seen coming on through his T-shirt.
Judging from the situation, it seems like a cell phone was connected inside his stomach.
The phone rang three times, and then his stomach suddenly swelled up and exploded violently.
At this moment, Li Wei, with Jess in tow, had only taken four or five steps and was still about three steps away from the stairwell.
Hearing the sound behind him, Li Wei felt as if those few steps were an insurmountable chasm...
On the street outside the police station, Gordon watched the sudden, dazzling explosion of sparks and felt his vision go black.
He worked in Gotham for decades and experienced countless life-and-death situations.
Watching Li Wei pass away filled him with a wave of sadness.
This guy, who is so smart, made a foolish mistake in a critical moment.
Although he had only known this guy for two short days, he had already accepted him from the bottom of his heart.
"You think you're some kind of saint?!"
Gordon cursed angrily, then lowered his head, inadvertently raising his hand to wipe his eyes.
The police officer in charge of guarding the detention cell stood there dumbfounded, staring at the flames spewing out.
He had already guessed the reason for what happened, and at this moment his heart was filled with self-blame.
If he hadn't been so focused on escaping, Mr. Li Wei would probably have run away by now...
On the rooftop of the building next to the police station, Batman looked down at the dense crowd below, then at the second floor of the police station, which had been reduced to a sea of fire, and felt as if a huge boulder was lodged in his heart.
Although he didn't know what exactly happened at the last moment, he was certain that Li Wei had no chance of survival.
"Joker, you bastard!"
Batman slammed his fist into the railing in front of him, secretly vowing to bring the Joker to justice.
"Phew, how boring."
The clown looked at the second floor of the police station engulfed in flames, and for some reason, he didn't feel the usual joy of victory.
However, just as he was about to turn off the monitor, his eyes suddenly widened in surprise.
He paused for a moment, then his lips curled up into his signature smile.
"Oh, let's see who's come out, Mr. Prophet... Now, I'm starting to acknowledge you!"
The clown shook off his previous listlessness and became full of energy again.
Turning off the monitor, the Joker felt completely relaxed.
In Gotham, besides Batman, he finally has another equally matched opponent.
Batman stands on the rooftop of a tall building next to the police station.
Just as he was about to leave, he glanced down and saw someone walking out of the police station.
His eyes, already red from anger, were now filled with excitement.
"I knew you wouldn't get into trouble so easily!"
With a flash, Batman disappeared from the rooftop.
"Alright, Robin, don't be sad."
Gordon looked at the officer who had bowed his head in self-reproach and whispered a word of comfort, "If Levi knew, he wouldn't blame you."
Trust me, Li Wei isn't a petty person.
After hearing his words of comfort, Robin, who had been silent, looked up, his eyes already filled with tears.
If he could, he would give his life to bring Li Wei back.
But as soon as he raised his head, the sadness in his eyes was quickly replaced by astonishment.
What followed was pure joy.
"Mr. Li... Mr. Li Wei!"
