Chapter 64 Invading the Broadcast Tower
Chapter 64 Invading the Broadcast Tower
When Levi and Batman arrived at City Hall, Klein had already led his men to occupy the broadcast tower next to City Hall.
On the huge display screen atop the broadcast tower, several bright red characters are currently lit up.
—"Fear Rules Gotham".
Police lights flashed around the broadcast tower, the alternating red and blue lights creating a tense atmosphere in the night.
Fully armed police officers, holding shields and guns, formed a tight encirclement at the foot of the tower, and a heavy atmosphere filled the air.
"You've finally arrived."
Gordon saw Levi and Batman and quickly walked over to them.
"What the hell is this bastard trying to do?!"
Looking at the scene before him, Batman cursed angrily.
"Let's see how things go first. This guy definitely has something to ask for."
Li Wei said, "This guy definitely brought poison gas. I don't know what he's trying to do."
Just as the three of them were looking at each other in bewilderment, Klein's frantic voice came from the loudspeakers on the broadcast tower.
"Good evening, everyone. Batman, Mr. Levi, and... Commissioner Gordon."
Klein cleared his throat. "You must be wondering what I'm up to."
My idea is actually very simple: the Gotham City government should immediately hand over control!
"If you don't agree, I will immediately unleash the Fear Toxin, plunging Gotham into eternal terror!"
As Klein spoke, a ring of lights suddenly lit up around the broadcast tower.
The spot illuminated by the light was clearly a ring of toxin-emitting devices.
These devices look like small rockets, except that they are equipped with a compressed gas tank-like device at the front end of each rocket.
"See my little rocket? As soon as I press the button, these treasures will fly to every corner of Gotham."
"I think you know better than I what will happen then!"
...
Klein's words quickly caused a huge uproar, and residents living near the broadcast tower began to run away, creating chaos at the scene.
Li Wei stood in front of the command vehicle, his brow furrowed as he clutched the structural blueprints of the broadcasting tower.
Klein had placed poison-emitting devices all around the broadcast tower, which would be activated once the devices were set in motion.
High concentrations of fear toxins can spread throughout downtown Gotham City within ten minutes, with unimaginable consequences.
High concentrations of fear toxins can spread throughout downtown Gotham City within ten minutes, with unimaginable consequences.
"Li Wei, what do we do next?"
Gordon looked anxious. "If this guy's gas spreads, it'll be a disaster for Gotham!"
Gordon couldn't help but be anxious; the city government would never agree to Klein's proposal.
If the city government doesn't agree within the timeframe he sets, given his character, he'll definitely launch the poison.
"Dude, calm down."
Levi gestured to Gordon to calm down, "We've seen part of the launch device so far."
But this guy must have placed devices in other locations as well; we can only speculate based on the tower's structure.
Based on the structural diagram of the broadcast tower, it is highly likely that the tower's structure is distributed across platforms above the third floor and at the top.
Levi tells Gordon and Batman, "I think we can do this in two steps. First, find and destroy all the toxin-emitting devices to cut off the spread."
The second step was to infiltrate the broadcast tower and carry out the plan to capture Klein.
Batman nodded slightly, his black cape swaying gently in the night breeze.
"In that case, I will infiltrate the interior to locate the launch device."
My equipment makes it easier to move in the dark and less likely to be detected.
"I have obtained the detailed layout diagram of the broadcast tower."
Levi handed the blueprints to Batman, on which a route was marked in red pen.
Following this route, one can enter the broadcast tower through ventilation ducts, elevator shafts, and fire escape routes.
"This is the most covert infiltration route, avoiding major surveillance and passageways, which greatly reduces the risk of exposure."
As soon as Li Wei finished speaking, Batman took the blueprints and began to examine them carefully.
Batman had just finished looking at the drawings and returned them to Li Wei.
A black figure emerged from the darkness beside them like a ghost.
Catwoman had minor scratches on her face and traces of blood still wet on her forehead.
The black leather jacket was covered in dust and stains, clearly having just emerged from some pipes.
She held a folded piece of white paper in her hand and walked quickly to Li Wei's side.
"I've already scouted it out; this is their personnel deployment map."
Catwoman unfolded the blueprints, pointed to the lines on them, and said to Li Wei, "The west stairwell is unguarded; it's a weak point in the defense."
The launching devices are mainly concentrated on the fifth floor and at the top of the tower, with at least five gangsters guarding each floor.
Li Wei didn't look at the blueprints; his gaze fell on the catwoman's face, and his brows furrowed unconsciously.
"Don't take such risks next time."
"understood."
Catwoman stiffened slightly, a faint blush instantly spreading across her cheeks, and she instinctively avoided Li Wei's gaze.
She never expected Li Wei to say such a thing.
Batman and Gordon ignored all of this, looking away in unison.
"cough."
Li Wei coughed lightly and handed the blueprints to Batman, gesturing for him to take a look first.
Batman took the two sets of blueprints and compared them briefly.
"The layout and sketch match; I'll set off now."
After Batman finished speaking, he turned and disappeared into the night.
As if disappearing into the shadows, they moved silently toward the broadcast tower.
"Dude, Batman has already started his operation, we should do something too."
Seeing Batman begin to infiltrate, Levi quickly got into position and began making arrangements.
"My idea is for you to lead a team of officers and launch a feint attack from the front to draw the attention of those people in the broadcast tower."
I led another team to infiltrate through the west stairwell to create an opportunity for Batman to destroy the launch device.
"Buddy, let's do as you say!"
Gordon agreed and led the officers to the front of the broadcast tower, making it look like a feint attack.
Li Wei gave Catwoman a few instructions and quickly gathered his men to work together with Gordon.
...
The night was deep, and the broadcast tower was dimly lit, with only the occasional flash of a flashlight and the faint light from the running equipment.
Batman slipped into the broadcast tower through the ventilation ducts, moving as nimbly as a cheetah.
His bat mask has night vision capabilities, allowing him to clearly see every corner inside the tower.
On the third level of the passage, he encountered two patrolling gangsters.
Before they could react, Batman had already leaped out.
He delivered a chop to the neck of one gangster while simultaneously kicking another.
He subdued the two men in an instant, without making a sound.
Continuing to dive upwards, Batman soon reached the fifth platform.
Sure enough, a row of toxin-emitting devices was installed on the platform. Blue toxin liquid flowed slowly in transparent containers, emitting an eerie glow.
Two gangsters were sitting next to the device, smoking, with their submachine guns casually placed to the side.
Batman held his breath and burst out of the shadows.
He kicked their weapons away and then knocked them unconscious.
He carefully inspected the launching device and found that it had a complicated timing mechanism, with less than half an hour left before the launch time.
Just as Batman was about to dismantle the device, he suddenly heard footsteps behind him.
He immediately hid behind the device and saw several gangsters carrying guns walking towards the platform.
Their purpose was clear; they had obviously heard something.
