Chapter 7 "Truth"
Chapter 7 "Truth"
"Be careful!"
Before he could get close, Huang Hong spoke up to remind him, in order to avoid any misunderstanding.
Upon hearing Huang Hong's voice, the three of them slowed down their movements and focused some of their attention on Huang Hong.
Upon seeing Huang Hong, Chen Guoqiang was stunned for a moment, then excitedly exclaimed, "Xiao Hong! It's Xiao Hong!"
Huang Hong simply nodded slightly, then charged straight toward the goblin that was hiding.
By now, Huang Hong is quite adept at dealing with goblins. This is partly due to the fact that he has killed many goblins and become skilled through practice, but more importantly, it is due to the combat awareness he has gained from his maxed-out military boxing skills.
Just over ten seconds later, Huang Hong dragged the goblin's corpse out from behind the building. This was only because he deliberately delayed for a while; otherwise, it would have only taken a few seconds to deal with a goblin.
Upon seeing this, Chen Guoqiang and his two companions broke out in a cold sweat. Despite their small size, goblins are superior to human adults in many aspects. In addition, they are thick-skinned, bloodthirsty, and ferocious. If an ordinary person were to encounter them one-on-one, they would be torn to pieces and become food in no time.
Chen Guoqiang and his two teammates hunted monsters. They could handle one goblin with ease, but if it were two, they would probably have to pay a price.
Not to mention that the second goblin sneaked in unnoticed. If it succeeded in ambushing them, all three of them would probably perish here.
After dealing with the goblins who were attacking him, Huang Hong did not approach the three of them. He had read a lot of post-apocalyptic novels and understood the changes in people's hearts. Monsters and disasters were certainly terrible in the apocalypse, but weren't people's hearts just as terrible?
Although Huang Hong was familiar with Chen Guoqiang, he did not know the other two. He maintained a basic distance from them while they were fighting, in order to put their minds at ease.
Minutes later, the goblin was finally beaten to death by the group.
Chen Guoqiang wiped his sweat, walked over with a delighted expression, looked Huang Hong up and down, and said, "Good! Great! Xiao Hong, I didn't expect to see you here."
Huang Hong smiled and nodded.
Chen Guoqiang is in his thirties. He served in the army for a few years when he was young. After returning, he joined a security company. With his excellent military skills, he quickly became a captain and then led the team to take on the patrol mission for the museum.
Huang Hong said, "I was in the basement when I woke up to find the world completely changed. How are the others?"
The "others" Huang Hong was referring to were naturally his colleagues and friends.
Chen Guoqiang's expression darkened, and he shook his head, saying, "The change happened too suddenly. When the monster suddenly appeared, no one had time to react, and then it was a one-sided massacre."
"I tried to organize a rebellion, but unfortunately we failed. In the end, we could only scatter and flee. It wasn't until recently that I awakened my superhuman abilities and my body was strengthened, which gave me the ability to fight these monsters."
Just then, two of Chen Guoqiang's teammates spoke up, saying, "Brother Guoqiang, aren't you going to introduce him?"
Huang Hong looked at the two men. One was a young man about his age, dressed in sportswear. He looked ordinary, but had a strong scholarly air about him. The other was a middle-aged man around forty years old, wearing a suit that was not suitable for sports. Even after the fight, he was not too disheveled and exuded a strong sense of confidence. He was obviously a successful person and a business elite.
Chen Guoqiang pointed at Huang Hong and said, "This is a member of my security team... Huang Hong, a pretty good young man."
Then, pointing to his two teammates, he said, "This young man is Zhuge Ping, and the other is Boss Wu Junyi."
Wu Junyi waved his hand and said with a wry smile, "What Boss Wu? In this situation, no amount of money is more than a pile of waste paper. The tools in my hand are more useful."
Wu Junyi paused, his gaze sweeping intentionally or unintentionally over the goblin's corpse and the iron spear in Huang Hong's hand, and laughed, "Brother Huang Hong is really amazing, to be able to kill a goblin in such a short time."
Huang Hong, with a faint smile on his face, said, "It's alright."
Having rescued the person and caught up with old friends, he didn't intend to linger any longer. So he said to Chen Guoqiang, "Brother Chen, I'm going to the city next, so I won't be traveling with you."
After saying that, Huang Hong turned to leave. Chen Guoqiang was a little surprised. He actually wanted Huang Hong to join them, but he opened his mouth and didn't know how to persuade him.
Just then, Wu Junyi suddenly spoke up: "Brother Huang Hong, you said you're going to the city center? Would you mind traveling with us?"
Huang Hong casually replied, "It's inconvenient."
Wu Junyi's eyes flickered, and he stepped in front of Huang Hong, a smile plastered on his face. He said, "Brother Huang Hong, I know you are powerful and unwilling to bring us along. However, you might as well listen to my conditions. I guarantee you will be satisfied!"
Huang Hong stopped and looked calmly at Wu Junyi.
Wu Junyi didn't keep them in suspense and quickly said, "I have a villa in Skyline where I keep some of my collection. I believe Brother Huang Hong would be interested."
Skyline is the top-tier residential development in Anyue City. It is said that the ordinary apartments there start at tens of thousands of yuan per square meter, and the duplex villas are even more expensive, each one costing a fortune.
"Collections?" Huang Hong frowned and asked, "What kind of collections?"
Wu Junyi laughed and said, "A gun!"
Huang Hong was shocked and blurted out, "Impossible! Under the domestic system, how could they allow you to possess firearms? That's illegal!"
Wu Junyi chuckled, "It seems Brother Huang Hong doesn't know me. Let me put it this way, before all this happened, my net worth was over ten figures, not even counting my intangible assets. I had a wealth of connections and resources; in your young people's terms, I was... very resourceful!"
"Although private ownership of firearms is prohibited in China, and there are no shooting ranges in Anyue City, who says that owning firearms is necessarily illegal?"
"Antiques! Works of art! Private collections! Brother Huang Hong, you're still young and haven't figured out the old rules of the game."
After a moment's thought, Huang Hong said, "What you meant just now was a deal?"
Wu Junyi's smile widened as he said, "As long as Brother Huang Hong travels with us, once we arrive at my villa in the Skyline, you can choose any two items from my collection. How about it?"
Huang Hong looked towards the city center. Although the skyline was located in the city center, it was also in a relatively peripheral area. It was on the way and not too far away.
Huang Hong nodded and said, "In that case, I agree. When shall we depart?"
Wu Junyi laughed and said, "Don't rush, Brother Huang Hong. The three of us are not as relaxed as you are. Killing this goblin has already exhausted us. At least let us rest for a while."
Huang Hong nodded slightly and followed the three towards their temporary camp.
On the way, Chen Guoqiang looked at Huang Hong with some complicated feelings. In his impression, Huang Hong was a typical college student who had just stepped out of the ivory tower, with a clear naiveté in his eyes. But Huang Hong's performance today really refreshed his understanding.
To be honest, Huang Hong has the ability to enhance all things, so his need for firearms isn't that high. However, if he could get his hands on such a powerful weapon created by humans with a little effort, he wouldn't refuse.
