Chapter 54 Remaining Symptoms
Chapter 54 Remaining Symptoms
After greeting Wei Hongsi, Chen Haoyu, unsure of what to talk about, took out a cigarette from his pocket and offered one to Wei Hongsi.
"I don't smoke," Wei Hongsi waved his hand.
"Oh." Chen Haoyu then put the cigarettes away again. "Actually, I don't usually smoke."
Wei Hongsi noticed the other person seemed a bit uneasy, so he asked, "Why aren't you sitting in the front row?"
"I almost spilled my drink on Shen Qing's dress while I was preparing," Chen Haoyu said somewhat awkwardly. "President Ji told me to reflect on my actions here."
"It's not a big deal," Wei Hongsi said with a reassuring smile.
Hearing him say that, Chen Haoyu immediately felt much more at ease.
Of the more than one hundred people attending the event, about one-fifth were park employees. Compared to other fans, they had additional tasks, such as holding up light boards and creating a lively atmosphere according to instructions.
Several of the young men were Ji Cheng's direct subordinates, and they were all seated in the first row. Ji Cheng made this arrangement not to favor his confidants, but to have them occupy key positions in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
Chen Haoyu was originally one of these people. However, before the official event even started, he almost became the one in the emergency, which naturally infuriated Ji Cheng.
Wei Hongsi and Chen Haoyu chatted casually for a while before Ji Cheng arrived.
"Mr. Wei, what are you doing here?" he asked, somewhat surprised. As the planner of tonight's event, he had many things to worry about and hadn't noticed Wei Hongsi's absence.
"This angle is great. It doesn't interfere with enjoying the performance, and you can also see the river view. Otherwise, you wouldn't feel like you're on a boat," Wei Hongsi offered a reason that wasn't too far-fetched.
Ji Cheng stood next to Wei Hongsi and looked around.
On one side is the shimmering river surface, and in the distance is the riverside new city district bathed in lights; on the other side is the side passageway of the stage, with no audience seats in between, allowing for a good view of Shen Qing's long legs.
It seems pretty good.
He smiled and nodded: "Engineer Wei is indeed a person with artistic conception."
Wei Hongsi didn't know Ji Cheng's perspective, but he smiled and nodded.
Ji Cheng then said to Chen Haoyu, "You messed up at a crucial moment, and I sent you here to reflect on your actions, but you're quite relaxed!"
Chen Haoyu was a little confused by what was said, but he didn't know what to say, so he could only chuckle awkwardly.
Ji Cheng said, "Shen Qing is going to change clothes in the dressing room after finishing this song. You can sit back down during the break."
"Okay." Chen Haoyu nodded quickly, finally putting the past behind him.
Not long after, Shen Qing finished singing a song, waved to her fans, and walked towards the side passage.
The three people, Wei Hongsi and his companion, were at the end of this side passage. Shen Qing needed to go from here to behind the curtain and then go down the stairs from there.
Seeing Shen Qing approaching, Chen Haoyu suddenly took a few steps forward.
Ji Cheng paused for a moment, then realized that the kid must have gone to apologize to Shen Qing. Although the timing wasn't ideal, it wasn't impossible either.
As Wei Hongsi watched Chen Haoyu's retreating figure, several yellow characters suddenly appeared before his eyes.
[Risk Warning!]
He glanced at his surroundings briefly, and without thinking too much, took two steps forward.
Chen Haoyu kept his head down and didn't look at Shen Qing. Just as he was about to pass her, he shuffled his foot on the ground.
The side passage was covered with a red carpet, originally intended to prevent slipping, but when Chen Haoyu rubbed against it, a large wrinkle immediately appeared.
Shen Qing was walking quite fast and didn't look at her feet at all. Suddenly, she felt her heel get caught, and she lost her balance and stumbled forward.
Upon seeing this, Wei Hongsi immediately stepped to the side and stood in front of Shen Qing, placing his hands on her shoulders.
Shen Qing's shoulder was supported, preventing her from falling, but due to inertia, her head slammed forward, and her knees buckled, causing her to kneel.
Wei Hongsi was hit in the nose and mouth by Shen Qing's headbutt, and even though he was somewhat prepared, he couldn't help but let out a muffled groan. At the same time, he felt Shen Qing's body falling downwards, so he used his hands to pull her up.
Shen Qing was lifted up, and she quickly regained her senses and stood up, saying softly, "Thank you."
Everyone has tripped and fallen while walking, so it's not something to be alarmed about. However, it's quite embarrassing to embarrass yourself in public after becoming a celebrity.
She glanced back and saw that the stage had been taken over by the host, who was explaining the rules of the upcoming game to the fans. The lights were focused around the stage, so no one should be able to see this side.
She breathed a slight sigh of relief and turned around to see who had helped her. She vaguely remembered the person; she probably saw them when they were filming GG.
Then I saw the metal frame behind the boy, its edges gleaming with a metallic sheen. If he bumped into it, wouldn't he be disfigured?
Thinking of this, she couldn't help but turn pale and felt a little scared.
"Teacher Shen Qing, are you alright?" Ji Cheng rushed over and asked.
"It's alright." Shen Qing nodded and gently patted her chest a few times.
"Should we rest a little longer?" Ji Cheng asked again.
"No need," Shen Qing smiled. "Let's proceed as planned."
Watching Shen Qing being escorted downstairs by two female staff members, Ji Cheng couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief. He had been at a slightly further distance, so he had seen the scene much more clearly.
To create a good stage effect for the evening event, many lights and decorations were hung on the backdrop. At the same time, it also had to meet the requirements of wind resistance and load-bearing capacity. Therefore, the backdrop frame was quite large, extending to less than two meters from the bulwark.
The frame was made entirely of hard materials like angle iron and square steel. If Shen Qing were to bump her head into it, the consequences would be truly unimaginable.
This dangerous situation was entirely caused by human error.
Thinking of this, Ji Cheng's face immediately darkened. He turned around and saw Chen Haoyu standing in front of him, looking completely bewildered, as if he had been scared out of his wits.
Ji Cheng almost laughed out of anger: "Chen Haoyu, you've really grown up, haven't you? You came here specifically to trick me, haven't you?"
"President Ji, I...I...I don't know...what happened," Chen Haoyu stammered.
"You don't know?" Ji Cheng stepped forward, forcibly controlling himself from shouting, "Tell me, who told you to do this?"
"No...nobody's here!" Chen Haoyu sounded like he was about to cry.
"Are you crazy?" Ji Cheng said through gritted teeth, raising his hand as if he wanted to slap the guy hard.
"Mr. Ji, please calm down."
"I'll give you the cold shoulder..." Ji Cheng was about to swear when he suddenly realized that the person speaking was Wei Hongsi, so he looked at him and said, "Engineer Wei, I'm sorry, I made you laugh."
Wei Hongsi said, "President Ji, I think there might be more to the story."
