Chapter 558: Catching the Poisoner
Chapter 558: Catching the Poisoner
Lin Rusi naturally noticed that the group of people were simply placed in the lobby and no one paid any attention to them.
Guessing that this might be something she was supposed to handle, she could only quickly change into the maid's clothes she had gotten from the steward the day before and put them on.
She then sat down to check her hair to make sure there was nothing inappropriate before going around to the study from the other side.
Hearing the sounds coming from inside, Lin Rusi immediately reached out and knocked on the door.
"Who?"
"Fifth Prince, this is your servant. The people from outside have almost all arrived. I wonder what your plans are?"
The Fifth Prince pushed open the door and saw Lin Rusi outside. His expression finally relaxed, and he gestured for her to enter the study.
His expression changed again after the door closed.
"Are you dressed like this to go in and observe as a maid?"
"That's true, but I would appreciate it if the Fifth Prince could make some arrangements to avoid exposure."
The Fifth Prince responded and then ordered someone to summon the steward.
Upon seeing the beautifully dressed maid in the room, he was first taken aback, then showed a look of astonishment, as if he had seen something unbelievable.
Lin Rusi guessed what this meant and spoke first to let the butler confirm her identity.
"So you're a divine physician? I was wondering yesterday why you wanted the maids' clothes in your household. It turns out you wanted to change into them to protect the imperial concubine."
"That's right, please make the arrangements. The name Xiaowen will suffice."
The steward repeated the instructions twice to make sure there was no mistake, then looked at the Fifth Prince again.
After confirming that the other party had no objections, the two went out together.
Worried that others might recognize her, Lin Rusi gave the housekeeper a few instructions and then walked alone into the crowd.
To avoid seeming abrupt, I picked up the teapot and served tea to each of the guests.
When will you let us see the Fifth Imperial Consort?
"This servant does not know either, after all, only the master can decide. But rest assured, the prince brought everyone into the mansion in order to treat the Fifth Princess Consort."
Upon hearing Lin Rusi's words, the man hesitated before nodding, then picked up his teacup and earnestly savored the more precious tea leaves from the Prince's residence.
The others are no different, but there are always a few mavericks.
There were three men standing in the corner, each with a different expression, but their eyes were looking around, as if they were surveying the Fifth Prince's residence.
Noticing this, Lin Rusi subtly stepped forward and handed each of them a cup of tea.
As someone else took the teacup, a new discovery was immediately made.
Of the three, the first two still smelled of medicine, and the worry in their eyes was still undisguised when they looked at each other, which is quite in line with the saying that a doctor's heart is like a doctor's heart.
The last person remaining not only showed no worry in his eyes, but also possessed a well-hidden killing intent.
That's not all; the man's tiger's mouth and body were quite thick, clearly indicating that he was a martial artist.
Lin Rusi tried to find some trace of the pharmacist in the other party, but unfortunately there was nothing.
Having determined that this person was definitely suspicious, he quietly left with the empty teapot.
Worried that someone would notice something was wrong, Lin Rusi first went back to the back kitchen, and then took another route to return to the front of the study.
"So you've already made a discovery?"
"Indeed, something has been discovered."
Lin Rusi told the Fifth Prince about the matter directly.
The other party was shocked that the person would so blatantly send someone to harm their beloved, and clenched their fists, still wanting to deal with the situation.
Knowing that the other person wouldn't let him off easily, a smile crept onto his lips again as he whispered his thoughts.
"If you continue like this, you'll be easily manipulated again. Why don't we try a different approach?"
"any solution?"
The Fifth Prince frowned slightly, as if he had thought of something, and stared intently at Lin Rusi with narrowed eyes.
Lin Rusi felt somewhat helpless at being suddenly targeted.
“I know you are worried that the Imperial Concubine is in danger, but we only need to have someone take a look to confirm the Imperial Concubine’s condition, and then let them prepare a treatment plan.”
"That's certainly possible, but how do you know they won't actually commit the crime in front of you?"
Lin Rusi curled her lips into a smile and pointed at the guard standing beside her.
"Since the imperial concubine is unwell, she naturally cannot go to see the doctor alone or with her maid. She must be accompanied by guards."
"Okay, we'll do it your way."
Seeing their master's actions, the guards could only nod to Lin Rusi and follow her into the Fifth Princess's room.
When the group of doctors entered the room, the first thing they saw was the guard standing by the bed.
"Doctors use observation, listening, questioning, and palpation. You will use this method to determine the lady's condition and prepare a treatment plan for her."
"That won't do. If we don't take the princess's pulse in her condition, how can we come up with a solution?"
Lin Rusi ignored the other party and turned her gaze directly to the guard.
The other party was equally ruthless, drawing his knife and using its sharp gleam to scare everyone away.
Daring not to do anything else, everyone took the time to observe the Fifth Princess on the bed, and finally left the room dejectedly.
"The Fifth Prince has instructed that guest rooms have been prepared for you all. Please follow the steward to the backyard."
"Thank you, Your Highness."
As everyone disappeared from sight, Lin Rusi turned her gaze back to the Fifth Princess, who had just been awakened.
She gently helped the person up, whispered that she wanted to change rooms for a medicinal bath, and then followed her out.
While the person was resting in another room, she approached the guard again.
"The lady has already been seen unconscious, and someone needs to take her place. Are you up to the task?"
"That figure..."
"With the blanket and the darkness obstructing the view, even the best eyesight can't see clearly."
Unexpectedly, Lin Rusi said that. The guard had nothing to say and nodded, then put his hand to his mouth and whistled.
The next moment, another person appeared in front of the door, looking around warily.
Fearing being discovered, Lin Rusi simply raised her hand, pointed to another hidden window, and then pushed open the door and went inside.
One hour later.
Lin Rusi woke the person up, wiped the water droplets off their body, and then placed them directly on the bed next to her.
Why don't you go back?
"Acupuncture is needed today, so it's best to avoid getting cold."
Already feeling sleepy, the Fifth Princess closed her eyes and fell asleep again upon hearing that Lin Rusi wouldn't be able to return anytime soon.
To ensure the person wouldn't be disturbed, she even inserted a sleeping acupoint, causing them to fall asleep immediately.
After dealing with the matters at the Fifth Prince's residence, Lin Rusi returned to her own residence.
Li Jingyang looked at Lin Rusi, who was clearly in his arms but seemed to be getting further and further away, and could only use even more force to hold her tightly in his arms.
The force was so great that Lin Rusi almost coughed up blood.
She finally noticed that the other person was looking up at her, and immediately smiled.
"Now is not the time for us to be down. There are still many things we need to deal with. Goryeo is currently lacking an emperor."
"Okay, let's go to Korea together."
