Chapter 51 Dating
Chapter 51 Dating
The restaurant maintained its usual elegance and tranquility in the evening. Warm yellow light streamed through the windows onto the floor, and the air was filled with the enticing aroma of roasted meat and fresh bread. The interior of the Western restaurant was rustic yet elegant, with dark wood tables and chairs complementing the exquisite tableware perfectly; every detail was just right.
When Gu Yanchuan and Lin Chuyue entered the restaurant, the waiters were already prepared to guide them. Every employee seemed to know their identities, and the receptionist smiled as she led the two to their reserved window seat. Outside the window was the city's night view, brightly lit, the dazzling lights reflecting off their figures. Gu Yanchuan bowed slightly, gently pulled out a chair, and respectfully seated Lin Chuyue.
Lin Chuyue paused for a moment, then gave a faint smile: "Thank you."
After sitting down, Gu Yanchuan maintained his usual calm and elegant demeanor. He lowered his head slightly and pointed to the menu on the table: "What would you like to eat tonight? I remember you used to like beef, how about something else?"
Lin Chuyue glanced at the menu, a thought suddenly crossing her mind. She looked up and met Gu Yanchuan's gaze: "You have a good memory. I'd really like to try the Wellington steak here. I've heard it's quite a specialty."
Gu Yanchuan nodded and then gestured for the waiter to come over. "Give us a Wellington steak, lobster pasta, and a bottle of red wine. Do you like wine?" He asked naturally, seemingly without any intention of breaking the silence, instead exuding an air of composure.
Lin Chuyue smiled slightly: "I like red wine. Having a glass now and then can help me relax."
“Then let’s have a bottle of this.” Gu Yanchuan’s tone was without the slightest hesitation as he pointed to the most expensive red wine on the menu. He seemed to have a thorough understanding of every dish and every bottle of wine in the restaurant.
After the waiter nodded and left, Gu Yanchuan gently wiped the corner of his mouth: "How have things been going at the company lately?"
Lin Chuyue put down the menu and replied softly, "Although Shen Fang's matter has been resolved, the company is now facing considerable challenges. We will have to deal with many complex situations in the future."
Gu Yanchuan frowned slightly, but quickly regained his composure. He gently picked up his wine glass, lowered his head and took a sip. The aroma of the wine instantly filled his mouth. When he looked up, his gaze remained gentle: "You did very well, Chuyue. I know you've never liked relying on others, but you don't have to bear all the pressure alone."
Lin Chuyue's heart stirred, and she looked up to meet Gu Yanchuan's gaze. His words were concise and direct, yet they contained boundless concern and support. She gently bit her lip, her heart fluttering slightly, but she quickly managed to conceal her emotions: "I just did what I was supposed to do; after all, the company and I are inextricably linked."
A hint of tenderness flashed in Gu Yanchuan's eyes, and he smiled slightly: "You did a great job. All your efforts will be rewarded."
His words were like a warm current, quietly melting the coldness and hardness in Lin Chuyue's heart. She no longer hid her weariness and leaned back in her chair, relaxing: "But I'm still a little worried. After all, Shen Fang is not someone who can be easily defeated. What she does behind the scenes is far more complicated than we can see."
“You don’t need to worry.” Gu Yanchuan’s tone remained firm. “Shen Fang’s scheme has collapsed. Now it’s up to us to clean up the mess.”
Lin Chuyue nodded slightly, turning to look at the night view outside the window, her thoughtful gaze lingering on the distant lights through the glass. She didn't feel relieved. Although Shen Fang had been exposed, she knew the conspiracy behind it wasn't over. Gu Yanchuan's support and trust were her greatest source of strength, but she still knew the road ahead would be full of unknowns and challenges.
Suddenly, she gently put down her wine glass, turned to look at Gu Yanchuan, and said, "Thank you, Gu Yanchuan. You've always been there for me."
Gu Yanchuan was slightly taken aback, then replied in a low voice, "You don't need to thank me." His tone was gentle, and his eyes were deep. "You are someone I trust. No matter what happens, I will be by your side."
Lin Chuyue looked at him deeply, a warm feeling welling up inside her. She lowered her head, her voice slightly tender: "Thank you, Gu Yanchuan."
Their eyes met, and in that instant, all the silence and unspoken words seemed to hold profound meaning. The sounds and lights in the restaurant blurred, while the tacit understanding and trust between them became clearer and warmer.
The wine glasses clinked gently, the aroma of red wine filling the air, as if at that moment, the distance between the two had become even closer and more intimate. Lin Chuyue smiled slightly, raised her glass, and said, "A toast to every step we take in the future."
Gu Yanchuan also raised his glass, his eyes sparkling with warmth: "Cheers."
Their eyes met, as if all the silence and unspoken words held profound meaning. In this challenging moment, they had finally found peace and trust in each other.
As dinner ended, Gu Yanchuan once again pulled out a chair for Lin Chuyue, gently supporting her back and guiding her out of the restaurant. The night outside was even deeper, the starry sky like a curtain, and the streetlights cast a soft glow, illuminating their figures.
“Starting tomorrow, the company will face even more challenges. What are you planning to do?” Gu Yanchuan asked softly, his voice deep and magnetic.
Lin Chuyue stopped and looked up at the starry sky: "I will continue to move forward and figure everything out step by step."
Gu Yanchuan nodded, bent down slightly, and whispered in her ear, "I will support you, Lin Chuyue. Leave everything to us to solve together."
Lin Chuyue's heart skipped a beat. She lowered her head and said in a tender voice, "Thank you, Gu Yanchuan."
The two walked side by side into the night, joining hands to move forward towards the challenges of the future.
