Chapter 524: Careful
Song Yin's latest drama was so captivating that Mu Xiaoyu watched it until almost 1 a.m. By the time it ended, she was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open.
After she barely managed to wash up, she returned to her room, where Li Chenxu was already asleep.
Mu Xiaoyu had originally planned to say goodnight to Li Chenxu, but seeing that he was asleep, she didn't disturb him. She got into bed, found a comfortable position next to Li Chenxu, and fell into a deep sleep.
He slept until nearly noon the next day. He didn't know when Li Chenxu had left; the spot beside him was long gone. Touching the bed, it was ice-cold, clearly indicating he had been gone for a long time.
In the past, Mu Xiaoyu could usually see Li Chenxu when she opened her eyes. But she didn't see him when she woke up today, and she felt a sense of indescribable melancholy.
Mu Xiaoyu lay quietly on the bed for a while before washing up and going downstairs.
There was no sign of Li Chenxu downstairs, but the nanny who had left earlier returned. Seeing Mu Xiaoyu come down, she quickly greeted her with a smile, "Madam is down. Would you like breakfast now?"
Mu Xiaoyu nodded, then couldn't help but ask, "Auntie, when did Brother Chen Xu leave?"
"The gentleman left early this morning. It seems there was something important at the company, so he didn't wake his wife up. But before he left, he said that his wife must eat breakfast after waking up, and that if he didn't come back today, his wife couldn't stay up as late as she did last night watching TV."
This explanation made it seem like they were treating Mu Xiaoyu like a child. In front of her aunt, Mu Xiaoyu felt a little embarrassed and gave a vague reply. However, remembering what her aunt had just said, she quickly asked, "Did he say where he would go if he didn't come back tonight?"
The aunt shook her head upon hearing this: "The gentleman didn't say, but if you want to know, you can just ask him."
As she spoke, the aunt smiled at Mu Xiaoyu again, and then brought out the breakfast that she had prepared in advance for Mu Xiaoyu.
Mu Xiaoyu had only been at the apartment for a short time, and the auntie hadn't seen her much before, so she didn't really know her preferences. But the breakfast served now was all Mu Xiaoyu's favorites, which meant that Li Chenxu had obviously told the auntie about them.
Instantly, all the frustration and melancholy I had felt vanished.
Mu Xiaoyu didn't say anything more. After sitting down and finishing the breakfast that her aunt had prepared, she went upstairs to change her clothes and prepare to go out.
It wasn't lunchtime yet, and Li Chenxu was usually still busy at this time. Although Mu Xiaoyu wanted to call and ask about Li Chenxu's plans for the day, she didn't want to disturb his work, so she postponed it.
After signing the contract with Li Chengnan last time, there are still some follow-up matters to handle. Mu Xiaoyu has to go to Li Chengnan's company today to finish up the remaining work.
The originally scheduled time was 11:00 AM, but Mu Xiaoyu woke up a little late in the morning and left home close to 11:00 AM.
Although Li Chengnan claimed to be a fan of Mu Xiaoyu, being late was never a good thing, and Mu Xiaoyu didn't want to leave a bad impression on him because of it.
So while on the way, he sent Li Chengnan an apologetic text message, saying that he would be a little late.
Li Chengnan replied quickly, saying it was alright, and also told Mu Xiaoyu not to worry, and that safety on the road was the most important thing.
Based on this alone, Mu Xiaoyu's impression of Li Chengnan improved considerably.
It was rush hour, and Mu Xiaoyu got stuck in traffic for more than ten minutes. By the time she arrived at Li Chengnan's company, it was already more than half an hour past the agreed time.
"Is Mr. Li still here? I'm Mu Xiaoyu from SQ Comics."
Although she had made an appointment with Li Chengnan, Mu Xiaoyu was so late that she was afraid Li Chengnan might be unable to wait if something came up, so she didn't go up directly but asked at the front desk at the entrance.
Li Chengnan's company mainly deals in audio-visual entertainment. The company has only been established for a short time and is not very large. It is located on one floor of a building not far from the Li family.
Upon hearing Mu Xiaoyu's words, the receptionist immediately put on a polite smile: "President Li is waiting for you in his office. I'll take you there."
"It's troublesome."
The receptionist led Mu Xiaoyu toward Li Chengnan's office. It was lunchtime, and Mu Xiaoyu followed the receptionist all the way there, barely seeing anyone else inside.
After all, she had been so late, and seeing that there was hardly anyone left in the office, Mu Xiaoyu felt a little embarrassed.
The receptionist led Mu Xiaoyu to the door of Li Chengnan's office and stopped. She gently knocked on the door, and after hearing the voices inside, she opened the door and led Mu Xiaoyu in.
"Mr. Li, Miss Mu has arrived."
Li Chengnan was working when he heard the receptionist's words. He immediately looked up at the door and smiled when his eyes fell on Mu Xiaoyu standing there. He looked at the receptionist and said, "Thank you for your hard work. You can go and rest now."
Hearing this, the receptionist said no more and immediately left the office. As soon as she left, Li Chengnan stood up and greeted Mu Xiaoyu, "Miss Mu, please make yourselves at home. What would you like to drink? Coffee, tea, or something else?"
"I'll just drink plain water."
Mu Xiaoyu sat down on the sofa, and seeing that Li Chengnan showed no displeasure, she said apologetically, "I'm sorry, there was some traffic on the way, so I'm late."
Li Chengnan still had a faint smile on his lips. He poured a glass of water and placed it in front of Mu Xiaoyu before saying, "It's nothing. I just have a lot of work to do today. It doesn't matter whether Miss Mu arrives early or late."
As he spoke, he took out the contract he had signed with Mu Xiaoyu and placed it in front of her, saying, "When we signed the contract, I told Miss Mu that I was your fan, and that's no lie. So, for the radio drama and anime, I hope that the voice actors chosen will be to your satisfaction. Although radio dramas and anime may not be as lucrative as film and television, they are extremely important to fans, which is why I invited Miss Mu here. I wonder if Miss Mu minds?"
Mu Xiaoyu signed a contract with Li Chengnan for the copyright of radio dramas and animations. She didn't know much about this, so she didn't expect Li Chengnan to come and talk to her about these things.
It has to be said that Mu Xiaoyu was truly touched.
