Chapter 55 Fight Me
Chapter 55 Fight Me
Lin Yan glanced at her basket. She had come out to buy groceries, so she couldn't just leave empty-handed. The basket only contained some lightweight spices; the rest was in her storage space.
Seeing Lin He Rui staring at her basket with envy, Lin Yan thought to herself, "If Lin He Rui saw how much stuff I bought, she'd probably be furious."
"What business is it of yours what I buy! It's not like I'm spending your money!"
"The money you all earn should rightfully go to your parents!"
"That's right, you eldest sons can't just enjoy your own happiness and forget about your parents." Lin Xiaoxiao, who had come with Lin Herui today, quickly stepped in to help when she saw them arguing.
"Even if the family has separated, it is still our duty to support our parents."
The other women on the bus nodded in agreement. "That's true. Even if you separate from your family, you still have to support your parents! That's how it is for sons."
Lin Yan was utterly speechless looking at these two aggressive guys! Not wanting to be led by the nose by these two, she said:
"To put it nicely, it's called dividing the family property; to put it bluntly, it's just that you don't want to share the debts and are kicking us out!"
"They wouldn't give us anything when the family divided the property, but now that they see we've made some money, they're asking us for it again. They're really shameless!"
"Hey, what did you say? Lin Yan! You didn't get anything when you divided the family property?" One of the sisters-in-law was unaware of this and was full of surprise.
Seeing this, Lin Yan suddenly looked dejected and said sadly, "Yes! Aunt! My father usually earns a lot of money, which he gives to my grandmother. But who knew that after this accident, my grandparents would be so heartless as to kick us out."
"What? Is that so!" The aunt's eyes widened, her pupils darted around, and her expression became subtle.
Seeing that she had been persuaded by Lin Yan, Lin Herui cursed inwardly. This Aunt Liu always liked to gossip about others. If she let this slip to others, wouldn't it spread throughout the whole village?
"Don't talk nonsense!" Lin Herui said angrily.
Lin Yan glanced at her, then lowered her head and whispered as if she were afraid, "Moreover, a few days ago my aunt and the others came to my house and asked my father to give them all the money he earned after the family division!"
"What?! That's outrageous!"
"Yes, that's too much. What kind of parents do that?"
"How can you not be happy for your son!"
"It must be Old Madam Lin and the others who are dragging down the eldest son's family, otherwise how come they've been doing so well since they separated from the family?"
"That auntie is something else, still not married at such an old age, just sucking her brother and sister-in-law dry!"
The women around her started chattering amongst themselves, and Aunt Liu had already taken Lin Yan's arm and begun to comfort her.
“Yan girl, don’t be afraid of her, tell your auntie…”
"Shut up, all of you! That's not how it is at all!" Lin Herui shouted loudly upon seeing this, her eyes reddening.
"That's right, we can't just listen to Lin Yan's side of the story!" Lin Xiaoxiao quickly pulled the distraught Lin Herui back to her feet.
"I'm talking nonsense? That day, it was the village chief who stopped you, and that's when you agreed to go home! Do you dare to say that didn't happen?!" Lin Yan suddenly shouted, as if she had been extremely wronged.
"That's how it is, it was my daughter who went to find the village chief!" Uncle Li, who was driving the cart, said.
"Oh dear, that's really going too far!"
"No!"
"Shut up, all of you shut up! Waaaaaah!" Lin He Rui had never heard so much sarcasm before, and she couldn't even stay angry; all she could do was cry.
Lin Xiaoxiao could only try to comfort her.
Lin Yan saw her crying with her head down and face covered, snorted coldly, and thought to herself, "Hmph, KO, you think you can mess with me!"
When Uncle Li arrived in the village, Lin Herui and Lin Xiaoxiao couldn't stay a moment longer and quickly ran away.
Uncle Li then took Lin Yan home directly, where Li Xiaocao had already arranged for people to wait.
Lin Yan glanced at them and saw that one of them was Zhang Qingfeng's wife, Sister-in-law Zhang, and the other was an aunt with a kind face and a strong figure.
"Father! Ayan! You're back!" Li Xiaocao waved and called out to them as soon as she saw the donkey cart.
"Ayan, have you bought all the ingredients? I've found people to help, Aunt Zhang and Aunt Wu, they're very reliable."
"I've bought it! Wait a minute!" Lin Yan jumped off the car, carrying a basket into the kitchen first, and then took out everything from her spatial storage.
"Let's cook outside, there's not enough space inside!" Lin Yan shouted outside.
She had taken everything out, filling the small hut to the brim. If a few more people came in, it would be difficult to even turn around.
“Okay! So what should we do?” Li Xiaocao asked.
"Hmm... a boiled fish, a pork, cabbage and tofu, a stir-fried eggplant with pork, and steamed buns."
"So much meat and vegetables! You have twenty people here?! Do you have enough food?" Li Xiaocao exclaimed in surprise.
Then he whispered to Lin Yan, "You have so many dishes in the back, just cook a few dishes for everyone, you don't need to bring meat for each one."
"This is too much! Lin Yan, you still have a house to build, and these workers are paid wages, so you can save some money on food." Aunt Zhang was also shocked, but she still considered Lin Yan's feelings.
Aunt Wu was too embarrassed to speak, but she was clearly quite frightened.
"That's enough, that's enough! Everyone does physical labor, so we need to eat well to have the energy to do it!" Lin Yan said with a smile.
"Let's begin. Aunt Wu, you and Sister Zhang will cut the meat first. One of you will cut the vegetables into chunks, and the other into slices. I'll catch the fish later and then process it. Xiao Cao, you and your partner can go to the vegetable garden in the back and pick some vegetables." Lin Yan instructed everyone.
Seeing that Lin Yan was determined to do this, Zhang's wife didn't say anything more. However, Aunt Wu, who was cutting meat with her, said, "Lin Hai's family is too kind, which is why they are bullied by the old Lin family."
Aunt Wu nodded. Although she hadn't had much contact with Lin Hai, seeing how generous Lin Yan was and how well she arranged things, she knew that her parents wouldn't be too bad off.
……
Li Xiaocao followed Lin Yan to the vegetable garden at the foot of the mountain behind the house. She saw a lush green field with cabbages, cucumbers, scallions, and eggplants all growing very well.
"Wow, Ayan! Your vegetable garden is growing so well. Luckily, it's well hidden, or someone might steal it."
"Hey, what are those red things over there?" Li Xiaocao asked, pointing to the chili peppers on the side.
"That's chili pepper! It's what you put in when making spicy chicken."
"Ah, so this is what you put in your spicy chicken, not dogwood."
Li Xiaocao had eaten Lin Yan's spicy chicken before and thought it was delicious, so she tried to make it herself, but the taste was very different. She thought it was a problem with her skills, but it turned out that she used different seasonings.
She only knew that dogwood was a spicy seasoning, but this was clearly tastier than dogwood; it had a fragrant and spicy flavor.
"Hey, Yan, I'm going to take some back with me later and plant some too."
“No problem, I’ve dried some at home, you can take them with you when you go home,” Lin Yan agreed.
The two picked a few cabbages, rapeseed, and some scallions and garlic, and carried them to the riverbank, where Li Xiaocao washed the vegetables.
Lin Yan grabbed a wooden stick and went into the river.
"You're going to use a stick to catch fish?! You!" Li Xiaocao didn't know what to say.
Before she could continue complaining, Lin Yan picked up a stick and poked a fish.
"you……"
"Wow, that's amazing!" Li Xiaocao's eyes twitched. Having been stunned by Lin Yan so many times, she was too exhausted to even complain.
