Chapter 385: Space Magic
Chapter 385: Space Magic
The group arrived at the Space Tower early.
The exchange competition wouldn’t start for another two days.
This gave them two days to familiarize themselves with the Space Tower.
They could spend the time touring and studying within it.
Compared to the Elemental Tower, the Space Tower had far fewer people.
It didn’t have a peripheral Floating City housing hundreds of thousands of ordinary people like the Elemental Tower did.
The entire population of the Space Tower was just over ten thousand people.
It consisted of only a single Mage Tower.
It appeared much smaller than the Elemental Tower on the surface, but its internal space was far larger.
Though small, it had everything one could need.
The Space Tower had its own shops, plazas, and Secret Realms—it wanted for nothing.
Li Wei and Eiris walked along a street inside the Space Tower.
From the outside, the Space Tower looked like a single nine-story tower.
But its interior held hidden marvels.
Each floor of the tower was its own independent space.
Li Wei hadn’t imagined it would be an entire town inside before he entered.
This just went to show how truly profound the Space Mages’ mastery of space was.
Li Wei asked, "Can we go to the Space Tower’s library to learn Magic?"
Eiris said, "You can go to the library to read, but don’t even think about learning their Magic."
"It may be an exchange between top Mage Towers, but they’re not going to just hand over their core secrets for you to take for free."
Li Wei said, "Then is there no way to learn anything from the Space Tower?"
Eiris replied, "That’s not entirely true. The exchange competition offers rewards like that—for instance, an opportunity to learn any spell within a certain range. Whether you can actually master it is another story."
He glanced at Li Wei and said, "You’re an Elemental Mage with no prior training in this. Trying to learn Space Magic will likely be very difficult."
"All Magic must be learned from the ground up, starting from the lowest tiers. Learning a Tier Zero or Tier One Space Magic spell won’t do you much good."
Li Wei heard that a chance to learn Magic was one of the rewards for the exchange competition.
An idea began to form in his mind.
However, he didn’t want to reveal too much of his strength during the competition.
Li Wei asked, "Is there no other way?"
Eiris said, "There is. The simplest way is to pay for it."
Li Wei shook his head. He hadn’t brought much money with him.
He did have a few valuable things on him, though.
The Tier Six Demon Core from the Poison Scorpion Beast Lord, the Earth Flowing Lava, the Poison Dragon Saliva Grass, the Dragon Blood Tree Leaves...
These were all valuable items.
Li Wei also had some Demon Cores from Tiers Four and Five Magic Beasts in his pocket. Selling those should fetch a few thousand Gold Coins.
If he scraped everything together, coming up with ten thousand Gold Coins shouldn’t be a problem.
Eiris said, "I’m going to check out the Space Tower’s library. Are you coming?"
Li Wei quickly replied, "I’m coming too."
Noticing how exceptionally familiar Eiris was with the Space Tower, he asked curiously, "Have you been here before?"
Eiris smiled. "I was an exchange student here once. I stayed for about half a year, so I know my way around."
"Eiris."
Hearing the voice, the two of them turned to their right.
A woman in a silver Mage Robe was calling out to Eiris.
Eiris, also a bit surprised, smiled in response. "Milan, long time no see."
As Milan approached, Li Wei noticed the Magic Badge on her chest, which depicted three crescent moons.
This meant Milan was a Tier Three Space Mage.
Milan felt Li Wei’s gaze and turned to look at him.
Seeing this, Eiris made the introduction. "Milan, let me introduce you. This is Li Wei, also a student from the Elemental Tower’s Purple Level Class."
Li Wei met Milan’s gaze and smiled. "Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you."
Milan said in surprise, "Mage Li Wei is also in the Purple Level Class? You must be very strong, then!"
Li Wei said humbly, "Not at all. My skills are quite average. I only just joined the Purple Level Class."
Eiris laughed. "Milan, don’t listen to him being modest. He’s not weak at all."
Then, he looked at Milan and asked, "Haven’t you broken through to Tier Four yet?"
Milan shook her head. "I felt the stirrings of a breakthrough recently, but I couldn’t quite grasp it."
Eiris said, "No rush. Your Space Tower doesn’t have a graduation deadline, anyway."
The Space Tower had few mages, and Space Magic was incredibly difficult to learn.
As a result, the Space Tower placed almost no restrictions on its students.
You could stay in the Space Tower indefinitely, as long as you wanted to.
After all, if there was one thing they had in abundance, it was space. There was no shortage of room.
The three of them headed toward the library together.
Milan and Eiris chatted about the past and their recent experiences.
Li Wei listened quietly, occasionally observing their surroundings.
Milan and Eiris had met back when he was an exchange student.
Back then, Eiris was already a Tier Three Mage, while Milan was just a Tier Two High Level Space Mage.
Years later, Eiris was already a Tier Five Mage, while Milan was still struggling to break through to become a Grand Mage.
This was mainly due to the immense difficulty of cultivating Space Magic.
However, Space Mages were also exceptionally powerful.
They were typically stronger than other mages of the same tier.
In terms of Attack Power, Defense Power, or escape abilities, Space Mages were considered top-tier among all types of mages.
As they neared the library entrance, Milan suddenly grew anxious.
"Oh no, oh no! I almost forgot I came out to buy materials for my mentor! Eiris, let’s talk next time. I have to go deliver these. See you!"
With that, Milan cast a Space Magic spell and vanished on the spot.
Eiris shook his head in resignation, thinking Milan was still the same as ever, unchanged after so many years.
He looked ahead and said, "Come on, the library is right up ahead."
"If you want to purchase Magic, just find the librarian."
"Okay, I understand," Li Wei said.
The two of them walked toward the library.
They presented their Magic Badges and were granted entry to the library.
"Welcome, Mage Eiris from the Elemental Tower."
"Welcome, Mage Li Wei from the Elemental Tower."
A voice announced their arrival as they entered.
Li Wei wasn’t surprised by this.
The Elemental Tower’s Saint Villia Library had a similar feature.
Eiris headed straight into the library, apparently looking for specific information.
Before he went, he told Li Wei where to find the librarian.
Following Eiris’s directions, Li Wei found a small door in a corner.
Looking at the door set into the wall, he wondered if it was merely a decoration.
After a moment’s hesitation, he knocked on the door.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!
"Hello, is anyone there?" Li Wei asked.
The door swung open silently.
Li Wei peeked inside and saw a spacious room.
It was yet another independent space.
"Hold on, I’ll be right out."
Li Wei stepped into the room, hearing the voice come from an adjacent bedroom.
He waited obediently in the main room.
A glance around revealed the room was quite messy, a clear sign that its owner wasn’t fond of tidying up.
"Alright, I’m ready. What do you want?"
A well-built, white-bearded old man walked out.
His collar was unbuttoned, revealing a muscular chest beneath.
It really made one wonder whether his profession was Warrior or Mage.
