Chapter 812 - Fighting Shi Shan
Chapter 812 - Fighting Shi Shan
Shi Shan had no desire to see Sun Qingnian. That fickle man had broken her heart. She could overlook him finding women in foreign civilizations, but she could not tolerate him doing the same in the Divine Civilization, much less bringing them back with him. The thought made her want to render him down into lamp oil and burn him alive.
The only reason she was willing to meet up with Sun Qingnian was to have a chance to fight Han Wu. Shi Shan was still furious at Sun Qingnian, but the prospect of facing Han Wu in battle was appealing enough to trump that. As the Blazing Warrior God, she had enormous confidence in her combat ability. Even the knowledge that Han Wu was a World life form didn’t frighten her in the slightest.
At the meeting place, Sun Qingnian immediately tried to pull Shi Shan aside and explain himself, but Shi Shan casually pushed him back with a burst of flame. “Don’t ruin my mood for this fight.”
Sun Qingnian stepped back, silently urging Han Wu forward with a look and motioning for him to hit her hard, but not too hard.
Han Wu gestured back as if to say, “That’s a tall order.”
Standing before Shi Shan, he could feel her power clearly. Despite not releasing any flames, she radiated a heat far beyond anything an ordinary person could produce.
“Ms. Shi Shan, let’s keep it friendly,” Han Wu suggested at the start of the fight.
However, Shi Shan couldn’t contain her fighting spirit. She launched herself at him in a single step, fist blazing, and threw a punch at his face. “Keeping it friendly won’t let me fight to my heart’s content. I’ve got a lot of resentment to let out!”
Han Wu sidestepped her flurry of attacks with ease. With his strength, he didn’t even have to draw on any of his Divine Authorities. Avoiding Shi Shan’s strikes cost him nothing.
The realization that he could effortlessly dodge all her attacks only fired Shi Shan up further. The illusion of a phoenix appeared, pouring tremendous power into her body, and a ring of fire ignited in the air behind her.
It was a Divine Ring! Only World life forms had one, but the not-yet World rank Shi Shan had manifested one! Han Wu could sense that her Divine Ring was not fully formed, but the flames within it were no ordinary fire—they were the powerful Phoenix Flames!
With the Divine Ring amplifying her strength, Shi Shan temporarily became a World life form. Her attacks grew fiercer, and her every movement carried a scorching authority, with an unmistakably noble, imposing air.
As Han Wu watched her, he found himself thinking of Qin Shuang. Both Shi Shan and Qin Shuang were pure single-element users with elements that were violent and offensively dominant. While Qin Shuang lacked the Phoenix bloodline, she had Annihilating Lightning. Her ceiling would ultimately be higher than Shi Shan’s.
Sun Qingnian watched anxiously from a distance. All he could see was Shi Shan attacking relentlessly while Han Wu continuously dodged. He feared that Han Wu wouldn’t be able to beat her. If that was the case, this whole plan was a bust.
“Come on, Han Wu, do something,” Sun Qingnian murmured.
Han Wu’s senses were sharp enough to catch that. Glancing at Sun Qingnian, he gave him a nod. He was ready to ramp it up.
After sidestepping another burst of Phoenix Flames, Han Wu raised a hand. Dozens of elemental spheres of various types materialized and fired toward Shi Shan simultaneously.
Shi Shan assumed it was a barrage attack and called up a wall of Phoenix Flames shaped into a phoenix shield to deflect the spheres. In moments, nearly a third of the fire-element spheres were destroyed. The ones that survived, however, transformed into thin threads that wrapped around Shi Shan, binding her.
“Elemental Flux Seal!” Han Wu called out, triggering the seal.
All the elements within Shi Shan’s space were instantly thrown into chaos. Her access to the fire element was cut off, and the Phoenix Flames on her body were snuffed out. The Divine Ring behind her also dissipated.
The elemental threads also locked her body in place, leaving her unable to move. Her fearsome power had been sealed in the blink of an eye. Shi Shan fought to break free, but to no avail.
This experience gave Han Wu a new understanding of the Elemental Flux Seal. It was originally a seven-Ring Seal Art, but with multiple elements enhancing it, its power was enough to rival an eleven-Ring seal.
Despite losing a third of its strength to the Phoenix Flames and being reduced to the strength of a ten-Ring seal, it still held out. This basically meant a ten-Ring seal had a strong chance of working against a World life form.
As this conclusion was derived from a single test, the certainty of it remained up in the air, but it still gave Han Wu a useful benchmark for real combat going forward. Han Wu stared at the sealed Shi Shan as she struggled futilely to break free. The match was over.
“Ms. Shi Shan, the fight is decided. I have things to attend to, so I’ll take my leave.” Han Wu hastily left before she had a chance to reply.
As Shi Shan watched him leave, she couldn’t help but replay the entire fight in her head. Han Wu had done nothing but dodge, and in the end, a single move had completely neutralized her. In other words, she couldn’t even survive one of his attacks.
That realization caused Shi Shan’s confidence to collapse. She had issued the challenge, yet she, a teacher, had been beaten in one move by a student. The humiliation was grave.
Sun Qingnian broke into a grin. He had been waiting for this. Stepping forward, he patiently comforted her, doting on her with care. The rattled Shi Shan needed someone to talk to, and Sun Qingnian was right there. With his track record of being bold, attentive, and utterly shameless, he had a decent shot at winning back Shi Shan’s heart.
Han Wu, meanwhile, had returned to the divine war through his divine realm. The war had continued during the few days he had been gone, and a clear winner had yet to emerge.
Recently, the Slaughter Faction had gained a significant number of students from Warfare College and had greatly expanded its forces. The Wisdom Faction, on the other hand, had taken a few small losses and lost some outposts.
From a strategic standpoint, the damage wasn’t severe, and Han Wu was confident he could reclaim every lost outpost. Before that, however, he needed to report to Xu Hai and let him know he was back.
The moment he walked into the Wisdom Faction’s command zone, he spotted a Heavenrender Epistian carrying a bruised and bloodied Jia Gui back. Someone had clearly beaten him up.
