Chapter 1145: Fafnir’s Predicament

Chapter 1145: Fafnir’s Predicament

Within the Dragon Realm, the Dragon Race representatives of the two factions differ in various aspects, yet the only consensus is their dedication to safeguarding familial ties. They can forgive the rebellion of their kin, and even when these kin return to challenge the decisions of the current Dragon King, as long as they show sufficient strength, the Dragon Race and even the Ancestral God will offer a fair chance to challenge. However, any harm against their kin or the younglings within the clan is intolerable throughout the Dragon Realm. When the tragic state of the young Dragon Princess Lorna became known, the entire Dragon Race erupted in anger. Even those who had once supported or sympathized with Fafnir changed their stance. As the investigation deepened into the Daoist Realm, the Dragon Race discovered several clan members had gone missing from their beast groups. Initially, both clan groups didn’t pay much attention to these events, partly because, apart from lower-tier Beast Races, most high-tier divine beasts have strong territorial instincts. Unless a clan gathering or mate-seeking is involved, they rarely interact with the outside world. It’s not uncommon for some Dragons to sleep for four or five years after feeding, and no one pays much attention to their disappearance.

The second reason is that beast group disappearances happen frequently. Some clan members might venture out alone, illegally crossing space barriers, but more often, other Plane Cultivators seek suitable beast pets or to capture certain beasts to refine magical artifacts from their blood and bones. These cultivators often trespass to capture beast groups, and when discovered by the Dragon Realm, they face severe consequences. Yet, the lure of great profit continuously drives people to cross the border and take the risk.

For reasons like these, when reports came in about missing clan members, the Dragon Realm didn’t initially treat it with urgency. But after a thorough investigation, they realized how many thought to be asleep or adventuring had mysteriously disappeared. Among them were members of the two largest Dragon clans and many high-tier divine beasts. This revelation shocked the entire Dragon Realm, prompting the two main Dragon clans to join forces and investigate.

The real culprits were naturally the Dark Race, who colluded with Bloodshed to reclaim the Dragon Realm. When Nero exhibited the mingled aura of various bloodlines at the Sword Discussion Conference, the fate of the missing clan members became apparent. With answers at hand, the next step was a joint raid by the Dragon Realm. A series of battles ensued, in which the Dragon Realm, supported by the Ancestral God, gained the upper hand.

Ironically, the Dark Race, once disdainful and rebellious enough to secede from the Dragon Realm, had to band together for warmth under immense pressure. Their previous actions now seemed childish and laughable. With Bloodshed facing continuous setbacks recently, many of the new generation, born post-defection, began questioning the clan’s decisions. They believed further resistance against the Dragon Realm was pointless. These younger members, harboring little animosity, yearned to return to the Dragon Realm, desiring a peaceful life of cultivation free from daily familial conflicts and the need to hide.

As the saying goes, once morale wanes, leading becomes difficult. Fafnir and the Dark Race’s upper echelon now found themselves in a dilemma. Unlike the younger generation, their hands were stained with blood, ensuring they could never return to the Dragon Realm. They resorted to internal high-pressure management, hoping Bloodshed would quickly turn the tide and lead the race out of its predicament.

In this situation, Fafnir had to endure the arrogance of Nero and others. After the dragon carriage slowly ascended, he finally spoke softly, "We have fulfilled our obligations in cooperation with Bloodshed. Now, due to this cooperation, we face the Dragon Realm’s rabid revenge, with our living space continuously suppressed. It’s time for you to repay your debt."

"Did we not come precisely to solve your problems? Is not the presence of five Children of Origin a grand enough gesture?" The one answering Fafnir wasn’t Nero, but a person seated beside him. Fafnir turned to see who spoke, noticing the figure remove their hood, revealing an Eastern face. To Fafnir, this person was unfamiliar, not having seen him at the Sword Discussion Conference. It seemed he was a newly transformed Child of Origin, formed recently after the competition’s final reward of two Origin Seeds.

Fafnir didn’t recognize this person, but if Pei Yan were present, he would immediately blurt out his name.

Bai Ze!

A name second only to Vlad among those on Pei Yan’s kill list. It was he who orchestrated the Du Guangyuan incident and who sent information to Vlad during the retreat, resulting in Shangxing’s death and Ye Jiumu’s affliction with the Blood Curse. His mediation also facilitated Bloodshed’s involvement in the Sword Discussion Conference.

Fafnir scrutinized the young man who spoke, then looked questioningly at Nero across from him. Only then did Nero speak, "He’s right. Don’t underestimate him. In terms of status, he’s my teacher’s actual Direct Disciple, and his presence here signifies Bloodshed’s eagerness to assist you!"

Fafnir was startled by these words, realizing the individual’s status surpassed even Nero’s, withdrawing his contempt and responding, "Yes, this lineup is indeed formidable. However, your chosen location is overly sensitive, and the situation has changed."

"What has changed?" Ivan, seated beside Nero, interjected.

"A few days ago, the Dragon Realm used their highest 24-Dragon welcome etiquette to host an individual from another dimension. According to our informant, this person accompanied Pei Yan, alongside the descendant left by the Ancestral God in the Keystone Plane. With Pei Yan here, I assume the Master of Origin, residing within him from the Keystone Plane, has also entered the Dragon Realm. This means that the Dragon Realm now hosts Pei Yan along with two Masters of Origin. Are you sure you want to execute your plan so close to the Dragon Realm?" Despite defecting, the Ancestral God’s stature is unshakeable among the Beast Races, and Fafnir still spoke with respect.

His message was clear: he didn’t favor this risky plan. At the mention of Pei Yan’s name, the atmosphere inside the carriage shifted; Bai Ze looked at his companions with a faint smile. Ivan, uncertain whether out of excitement or fear, had his newly installed Mechanical Hand trembling constantly. The two Children of Origin within their black robes exhibited disrupted breathing, as battle intent and killing intent unconsciously emanated.

Nero alone remained calm, smiling slightly, "Two Masters of Origin I can disregard, but Mr. Fafnir, placing Pei Yan alongside them is overestimating him, isn’t it? Moreover, his arrival was within our expectations."
