Chapter 399 Visit
Chapter 399 Visit
The following morning, sunlight filtered through the sycamore leaves, casting dappled shadows on the streets of Paris. Alan carried an elegant paper bag containing macarons and éclairs from a renowned patisserie, while his other hand naturally protected Liu Lingyin's. Following the address Tristan had given them, the siblings found his art-filled apartment on the Left Bank of Paris.
After they rang the doorbell, it was Emily, Tristan's gentle and graceful sister who bore a striking resemblance to him. She greeted them with a warm smile and immediately welcomed them inside.
"Allen! This must be Rin, right? Please come in! We've been waiting for you for so long!" Emily spoke fluent and friendly English.
The apartment was elegantly decorated, filled with a scholarly atmosphere and art collections. Tristan's father, Mr. Barthes—a well-maintained gentleman with meticulously combed silver hair and a scholarly air—and an equally elegant and beautiful lady (clearly Tristan's mother) rose from the living room to warmly greet them.
"Welcome, welcome! Allen, it's been a long time! You look even more energetic!"
Mr. Bart shook hands with Allen, then looked kindly at Liu Lingyin, "This must be Liu Lingyin, the 'Miracle Miss Asia' who saved Tristan's arm and helped so many people in the emergency room, right? Tristan told us about what happened last night, and we are all very grateful and full of curiosity!"
Tristan's mother also stepped forward and gave Liu Lingyin a warm hug: "Darling, thank you. You have no idea how worried we were when we heard that Tristan was injured, and we are even more grateful to you for saving him from so much suffering. Please sit down and don't be shy."
Tristan himself stood up from the sofa. He looked much better today; his arm was still in a sling, but his complexion was rosy and his smile was relaxed. He joked, "See? I told you they'd welcome you like a hero."
Everyone settled into the comfortable living room, where Emily served fragrant black tea and coffee. The conversation naturally turned to the terrifying hospital ordeal of the previous night. Tristan's parents and sister listened with astonishment, especially when they heard Liu Lingyin's description of how little Alice was repositioned "in the blink of an eye," which left them in awe.
"It's like magic!" Emily exclaimed. "I've learned a little first aid, and I know that dislocation reduction requires experience and skill. Lingyin, you look so young, you're amazing!"
Mr. Barth clapped his hands in admiration: "The ancient medical wisdom of the East truly has its unique and miraculous aspects. Tristan is very fortunate to have received your timely help."
Liu Lingyin felt a little embarrassed by the compliment and quickly said a few words of modesty. At this moment, she noticed a rather noticeable new wound, three or four centimeters long, on Mr. Barthes' left cheek near his jaw. Although it did not affect his overall refined and handsome face, it was indeed quite conspicuous on that meticulous face.
Taking advantage of the lively atmosphere of the conversation, Liu Lingyin took out a small, elegantly designed, sealed glass jar, about the size of a coin and two centimeters tall, from her backpack and handed it to Mr. Barthes.
"Mr. Bart, it's a pleasure to visit you. I've prepared a small gift. This is my own 'Jade Skin Regenerating Cream,' which is quite effective in promoting wound healing and fading scars. I noticed you have a recently healed wound on your face. If you don't mind, you can try it."
Liu Lingyin explained sincerely, "After cleansing your face every day, take a rice-grain-sized amount and apply it evenly to the scar area, gently massaging until absorbed. The ingredients are all natural herbal extracts, so it's very gentle."
Mr. Barthes was taken aback at first, then his eyes lit up with surprise! He took the small jar almost with both hands, as if he were holding some rare treasure.
"This...this is so thoughtful! Little angel, you're my savior!"
Mr. Barthes became visibly agitated, carefully stroking the smooth surface of the ceramic jar:
“I accidentally scratched myself the day before yesterday. If it weren’t for this wound, I wouldn’t have let Tristan come back! You know, for people like us, face is sometimes everything!”
He was clearly very conscious of his appearance.
Tristan's mother and sister also curiously gathered around to look.
"Dad, you're exaggerating."
Tristan chuckled and shook his head, but still gestured to his sling arm, adding, "However, Lingyin's medicine is truly remarkable. Look at my arm; after it was reset yesterday, Lingyin gave me some similar ointment to apply around the joint. This morning, the swelling was almost 80% gone, and the skin color was much normal, leaving only some soreness. If you didn't know the situation, who would guess from the outside that this arm was dislocated so badly yesterday?"
The family examined Tristan's arm closely and, as he had said, the recovery was astonishingly good. Now, they had no more doubts about the efficacy of Liu Lingyin's small ointment. Mr. Bart carefully put the small jar into his inner jacket pocket and thanked her repeatedly.
The atmosphere became more relaxed, and everyone drank tea, ate the desserts Allen had brought, and chatted. Liu Lingyin casually steered the conversation towards the Tristan family's recent situation, asking with concern:
"Mrs. Barthes, Emily, how have you been lately? Tristan's injury was an accident, but I vaguely heard him mention that things haven't been going well at home lately?"
That hit the nail on the head. Mrs. Barth sighed, a hint of worry appearing on her elegant face: "It is indeed a bit strange. In the past few months, one thing after another has happened at home. Tristan's father injured his face, Emily encountered some tricky troubles at work, and I myself slipped and twisted my ankle not long ago. Now Tristan has... Although none of them are fatal, one thing after another makes one feel uneasy."
Emily nodded in agreement: "Yes, I feel like I'm having a bit of bad luck. Even two of the clocks at home have broken down for no reason, and I keep encountering strange situations when I eat out."
Liu Lingyin listened for a moment, put down her teacup, and slowly scanned the living room with her gaze. She pondered for a moment and said, "Mr. Bart, Madam, if you don't mind, may I ask if there has been any renovation, alteration, or large furniture movement or special decorations added to your home—the villa where you currently reside—recently?"
The family exchanged glances. Mr. Barthes thought for a moment and said, "There weren't any major renovations. However... about three or four months ago, we did some modifications to the front and back yards. Does that matter?"
“From the perspective of ‘feng shui,’ an ancient environmental science in the East, there may be some influence.”
Liu Lingyin explained in a calm tone, without any sense of mystification, but rather as if stating an observation: "In the eyes of Chinese people, the layout of the living environment, the airflow, the lighting, and the placement of objects will form a kind of 'field' that invisibly affects the physical and mental health and fortune of the residents. If the changes are not made properly and the original harmonious balance of the 'field' is disrupted, it may bring some misfortunes, such as frequent minor health problems, setbacks in the progress of things, and irritability, etc."
Seeing that the Tristan family listened attentively and showed no resistance, she continued, "Of course, this isn't superstition; it's more like an empirical summary of the interaction between the environment and human energy. For example, if the bookcase you moved happens to block an important air vent, or if its sharp corners create so-called 'negative energy' directly impacting your usual sitting position; or if the subject matter and color of a newly hung painting clashes with the five elements of the space, it can all have subtle negative effects. And didn't your situation start after the yard renovation?"
After exchanging bewildered glances, the Tristan family of four thought it over carefully and realized it was indeed true.
Mr. Barthes seemed thoughtful; he himself had some interest in Eastern culture: "That sounds very reasonable. The environment can indeed influence people. Since you, Lingyin, can say these things, it seems you've done quite a bit of research. In your opinion, what should we do to improve this?"
Liu Lingyin smiled slightly: "I need to see the specific situation. May I visit your garden?"
"Of course!" X4
Thus, what was originally a visit and tea chat turned into a unique "feng shui diagnosis." Accompanied by Tristan's family, with Allen acting as a bag carrier in the background, Liu Lingyin carefully examined the villa. As she looked, she explained potential problems in simple language and offered specific, easy-to-implement adjustment suggestions, which earned frequent nods of approval from Tristan's family.
Mr. Barthes even took notes in his notebook and decided to start making adjustments today.
After their yard was renovated, the family no longer encountered various problems as before; in fact, their luck seemed to have improved considerably.
From their understanding of Liu Lingyin, they concluded that China was truly a magical and mysterious Eastern country.
